We are the owners of a town home constructed by KB Homes approximately two (2) years ago in the city of Bradenton, Florida. We and a number of other homeowners in this
complex desperately need help. These homes built by KB Homes have developed serious exterior and interior problems resulting from poor construction techniques. Numerous homes in the subdivision now have weakened flooring, severe mold issues, weakened or collapsed balconies, water soaked interior walls which you can put your hand through, soaked interior framing and flooring.
These problems developed well before the heavy weather and rains hit Florida.
After constant efforts and notifications to KB Homes and to our Homeowners Association (HOA) nothing has been done. A temporary attempt to stop this water leakage was to drape canvases over exterior areas. This has not helped. At this point in time, we are unaware of any effective corrective action either by our HOA officers or the law firm they engaged to supposedly help us. In the meantime, each time it rains, the damage is becoming more extensive. One individual homeowner literally has no back wall-he has a tarp there instead. As homeowners, we are paying for this physically, emotionally, and monetarily. We feel alone in fighting this builder. We have become painfully aware of KB Homes delay tactics and refusal to do the right thing.
Nationally and locally, this company has developed a terrible reputation. We have discovered they have had a number of class actions filed against them and have been reported to the Better Business Bureau countless times. Florida is no exception. How can they be allowed permits to continue to build properties in violation of building codes as they did with our homes? We can undoubtedly state: several of the homes in our community are absolutely unsafe. Several independent contractors in the area would attest to this fact.
We find it unbelievable that KB Homes have been allowed to continue in the real estate industry considering their track record of questionable practices. KB Homes corporate office and Florida office are located as follows:
