Kaplan university fail to provide necessary course material until the last week of class, forcing me to end up retaking the class. when I talked to the school about this they said there was nothing they could do.
I have been attending Kaplan University Online for the past year and it has been a constant battle with Financial Aid and the Business Department on the sending of my Federal Pell Grant Stipends. First and foremost, it takes absolutely forever (sometimes 1 1/2-2+ months) after the school receives the stipend before it gets sent to me. At first, it wasn't an issue as the checks would regularly come out each semester with minimal delay, however over time it started taking the University longer and longer to send them out. The weird thing is that within 2 days of my wife showing that the stipend was paid on her account (she also attends Kaplan Online), that it shows up in our mail.
The problem is that every time that I call financial aid regarding the stipend, I am given the same answer without fail. That is to email ""[email protected]"" and request the status on my stipend. Every time I ask for a phone number to this department, I am always told that Financial Aid only has the email address and they are not aware of a phone number to the business department that handles stipends. I can't find the phone number on Google and all other departments I have called about this only tell me that I have to either use the provided email or talk to financial aid. Why is that? Why is there no contact information for the business department so that I can talk to an actual human being instead of hoping that somebody will respond to my email. However this is not the case. The pell grant for last semester was missed entirely. It literally sat on the account with a paid status for almost 2 months until I called in; only to hear that ""Oh, thats weird why it didn't send. We'll contact that department to see what's going on."" I'm sick of having to hold this school's hand to make sure that they are doing their job.
Here is an example of the emails exchanged between me and them. It has my name cut out of it for security. The start of the email chain is at the bottom. It's just ridiculous that I get an unprofessional response with no name or way of contacting the person back that wrote that email. I guess this is just how Kaplan does business.
Hi, I just got off the phone with financial aid and had them explain the disbursement process to me. However, both my wife and I get Pell grants from FAFSA and there is something that is concerning me. After the Pell grant posts to my wife's account, she receives the check within 2-3 days by mail. However it seems like Kaplan drags mine out as long as humanly possible before it is dispursed to me and i am curious as to why? So, now it is 7 calendar days after my Pell grant hit my account and it still has not been sent. Why is that? Please get back to me as soon as possible because something does not sound right right with this whole process. If Kaplan followed the 3 week process, then why does my wife get it within days of it posting? Thank you.
Sincerely,

Perfect! However, my original question was not answered. Why does it take Kaplan three times longer to send out my pell grant check than my wife who receives it just shortly after it hits the account? Please get back to me when possible. Thank you.

I know that it can't just be me having this issue. If anyone else is having issues similar to this, report it! Kaplan shouldn't be allowed to continue to do this to their students. Thanks for hearing me out.
