I graduated from Kaplan in 2009 in Medical Billing and Coding and was guaranteed job placement. Kaplan was no help at all. I had no idea that I had to be certified to get into that field nor was i told. I was unable to find job placement without being certified. Because of Kaplan and not keeping their promise. I was unable to get a job like promised. my taxes were garnished twice and I feel like kaplan owes it to everyone out there whos in the same position i am for the harm they caused in our dreams...

Well it start's for me as such I went through the process with the school very un-educated for what I was going to be going through as I became a full time student with Kaplan everything was so exciteing at the time when I did complete they had me under the impression that this wass the best carreree move I could had done so with that I manage to graduate in 2009 they had sent me to my externship and I was able to obtain employment but as I was getting into my future it was taken from me under the title of "ecconomy" but I since fount out that the doctor stood a better choice of not hireing perm but to rotate students for free and that is what he did when I told the school they did nothing to rectify the situation yrs had passed I stayed in contact with my student advisor up until she was laid off due to the closeing of my school I went back to refresh my skills asked for advice, questions and anything that could put in the field I was so ewasily charge from not 1 but 3 different loans so here it is yrs later no job in the field as a matter of fact I have been since back doing labor type jobs that has not match what was promised to me from Kaplan as I signed with them and many people I have met with has a story as well with the fact that they have not been working the chosen field but has this student bill hanging over there credit so when I fount out thata there was others I became excited and curious to what comes from this.

I begin taking classes at Kaplan University in January of 2008. During my application process I met with my advisor many times who reassured me I was making a great choice and obtaining a great education for a fair price. I was informed that the school was accredited. At one point a woman came into our classroom and showed us a certificate in a frame, stating that our school was accredited and we should not worry about credits transferring. In the spring of 2009 I moved to Colorado and had been informed there was a Kaplan in Thornton, CO I could transfer to. I once again asked about accredidation and if I would be able to sit for certification after completion of my program and was assured that they were and I could. When I completed my program they gave me information to become certified by AAMA but my job did not require certification and it did not affect my positition so I never sat for the exam. Now in 2014 I have a new job and they are requiring certification. When I contacted AAMA about my school they informed me that neither the Lewiston Main Kaplan nor the Thornton Colorado Kaplan were accredited for AAMA certification and that I would not be able to sit for their certification. I am now in debt about 20,000$ for a degree that is useless for certification.

I was a student at Kaplan College (it was Sawyer College when I started) in Hammond, Indiana from 2004 until 2007. I was told that I would be able to complete an Associates Degree there and use my credits to transfer somewhere else to go further in my education. I was 20 years old and had no knowledge of accredidation practices or finanical aid. Neither did my father who was forced to take out loans to pay for my education.

Scheduling was horrible. I always had to fight with registration because I was "assigned" to classes during the day when I had told them I was a night student only. Everytime I called to talk to my advisor, I was given a run around as to why he could not come to the phone. I never saw him after my initial interview. All the loan money that my dad signed for was taken directly by the school and I was never given a statement of how much the loans were being taken out for versus the cost of the program I was in.

After I completed my coursework, I had a hard time finding a job in the field that I studied. There were no companies that woudl hire student from Kaplan because of Kaplan's poor reputation. I decided to go back to school and change my major, only to be told that my credits from Kaplan would not transfer and that I would have to start all over again. When I tried to go back to school and get some fiancial aid help, I was shocked to find out that I owed over $25,000 to Kaplan for an education that I would not and cannot use.
