First, under public law the VA Accredits third-party claims agents, service organizations and attorneys. So, whoever you claim to have spoken to at the VA was factually incorrect. THIS MAKES YOUR STATEMENT LIBEL.

Chesapeake Benefits Group and its President, John Wardell, make it very clear on their website that they are an independent claims agent. As such, they can charge fees. Furthermore, no one can guarantee that a claim will be approved. THAT WOULD BE ILLEGAL.
Since your review was so completely factually incorrect, the rest of your statement is completely suspect.
I am currently looking for this service to help my grandmother (because she is easily confused and because I live out of town).
This service is very worthwhile for some people. SO, IF YOUR FIND IT NECESSARY IN YOUR CASE, BY ALL MEANS PURCHASE A SERVICE THAT HELPS...DON'T TAKE ADVICE FROM PEOPLE THAT HAVE FAILED TO DO ANY RESEARCH.
I have not yet chosen which firm I plan to use, but I can say that absolutely, this service is legal and, therefor the statement from the above poster is defamation.
I live out of state, my mom found this guy, John Wardell of Chesapeake Benefits Group who claimed to work for the VA and he said he would help her get Veterans benefits from the VA to pay for my Dad's care. My Dad was in World War II. He charged her $500 for his ""advice"".
His brilliant advice ended in a denial from the VA after a long wait and many letters back and forth with the VA. We went back to Chesapeake Benefits Group for help and mysteriously the calls were not returned in any kind of timely manner and in the end all we heard was excuses.
I spoke with the Veterans Service Officer where I live and found out that John Wardell does not work for the VA, it is illegal for him to charge even $1.00 for assistance, and he gave my Mom and Dad bad advice about their finances to begin with.
I have checked around we should have either gone with a company that does not charge or gone to a county service officer who could have helped my family for FREE.
Beware - John Wardell is acting illegally by charging, he won't help if there is a problem, and he is not working on behalf of the Veterans Administration. DO NOT PAY FOR ADVICE WITH VETERANS BENEFITS!!!
