I first met Mr. West through mutual contacts via Social Media over two years ago in 2012. We did a trial month of Public Relations for him at a discounted rate of $800.00 to help him get his music and acting career back on track. Unforunately, Mr. West had another idea for PR and requested on numerous occasions, tickets to various shows, filmings, and even at one point the Grammys (which does not happen unless you are a voting member of the ARA, which we discussed running his EPK and press releases to get him applied to the ARA). Mr. West had some health issues and we did not proceed with a second month of the Public Relations campaign.
We remained friendly and in April of 2014, Mr. West approached me with a few questions, one of which he was looking for a contact for a private jetservice for him and his friends in Hawaii which I did an email introduction for him - and then a social media campaign. Given the circumstances of the prior years' situation, I offered to build him a website as well as give him a discount on the social media campaign that he had chosen in June. The invoice was sent to him as requested on June 28, 2014 outlining everything as he requested.
To date, despite numerous attempts, Mr. West has come up with every excuse under the sun to avoid paying his invoice. I have documented communication in writing with him that he was going to send the payment via wire transfer over July 4th weekend - which never occurred. He did send his American Express and Drivers License for payment which was declined repeatedly. As well as text messages, photos and emails stating he had family problems, health issues requiring sugery, etc - yet, all he did on his social media was post photos of him on vacation and at DisneyLand - the complete contradiction of his statements and excuses.
After avoiding payment for over 90 days, I have now had to resort to collection agencies, as I feel it is only fair to let colleagues know before they get involved with Mr. West looking for marketing campaigns or a website. I had been extremely generous in offering the discount on the invoice which will be uploaded for full view to assist him in moving forward, however even when he flew in supposedly on a Private Jet to attend Joan River's funeral in New York, he avoided meeting me for coffee to settle his invoice.
