I had signed a distribution agreement and began selling a for a company that knowingly and deliberately misleads and makes false claims regarding who they really are and the business opportunity that they are soliciting people to become a part of. I would like to at the very least get my money back from this company, at the very most get my money plus punitive monies based on the 5 months I have wasted, trying to sell their products and to turn them over to Florida Law enforcement for further investigation and prosecution, so that others will not fall victim to this scheme.
Joe Ragner, as he was known to me, aka Joe Langner, and his colleagues knowingly deceived and made false claims about the Business opportunity available from the selling of America Wellness nutritional supplements and services. After being contacted by a recruiter to have a qualifying interview with Joe and an application of my case for the “award” of the Philadelphia territory, I was to give a deposit of $500 and upon my personal interview in Florida of their offices, pay a fee of $23,995 to buy distribution rights.After 5 calls to other distributors who each gave accounts of their back stories and their rise from no sales to commissions of. What would be annualized at from $72,000 to $375,000, I was convinced that I could make money and recover my investment as these men did in from 3 to 4 months of work and that word-of-mouth referrals would further drive my business growing it to a Level of success similar to theirs. It turns out that these men all operate using pre-paid cell phones purchased from various parts of the country and that these cell phone eventually ran out of minutes and the men rendered “unreachable” as were their successes
Understanding now as I do, that Joe Langner (as he is known on corporate papers) has been perpetrating this fraud under a number of LLC’s (at least 7), and under at least 10 brand names in Florida, my wish is to stop him and his colleagues from continuing to do so. After learning of Joe’s deceit and tendencies, it concerns me as well that the nutritional supplements and the urine testing that is claimed may also be of an uncertain nature. Are the ingredients that are claimed, actually contained in those supplements? Are the pictures of the machinery and the quality controls professed on their web site really in place? Does a testing lab really exist in Overland, KS?
I recently met another distributor via LinkedIn who was having the same trouble that I was and also had several months of trying to sell and recover his investment. He had found a brochure, exactly the same as the ones that are currently offered in a medical office that he visited. The only difference in the brochure was the name, printed on the front, United Health Enterprises, LLC. Other names associated with what was known to me as America Wellness are United Medical Network, a name that appears on the packaging of their supplements. When asked about the name, an employee of America Wellness, hesitated as if caught unaware and said she did not know about that, but maybe Joe could answer my question. Joe said that United Medical Network was “just a brand name used on their products”.
So it seems that their profit comes from selling distributorships around the country, waiting for the rep to fail and then re-sell the same territory to another rep using a new LLC.
It turns out United Medical Network is an active Florida Corporation whose address matching that of America Wellness. Other LLC’s, also with Joe Langner named as a manager at or near that address, include active and inactive LLC’s. Those include:

The supplement bottles are also labeled inconsistently, some with lot numbers or control numbers and some with none. Still others Include expiration dates, all in 2014 and others have no expiration date at all. Unfortunately, I recently noticed a detailed story on a web site called Ripoff Report from May 2009 whose details were extremely close to the interview and distributor testimony story that I went through. The results (ABC Wellness, LLC) were different in that the man from Springfield, Ma was not fooled as I was. I looked deeper into the complaints and found a total of 14 Ripoff Report complaints all with nearly identical stories.
Regarding the contract I signed, it turns out that the Business Opportunity number listed on the contract does not match America Wellness, LLC. Rather, that number, (BO2597) belongs to Custom Wellness and expired in 2009. Also Joe’s name does not appear. And his signature is undecipherable. I have also found out that the web site that I am used to going to has mirror sites, all with the same content, but with different corporate names: americadiagnostics.com; unitedmedicalnetwok.com & healthwellnesscenter.com. I’m sure there are others. There are also a number of phone numbers that can be called that ring to the same person. Mary, the receptionist answers differently for some numbers (listed above) with the current (as of this writing) being Health Solutions or Creative Health.
What he did wrong:
Misrepresented himself as Joe Ragner, when it appears that his name is Langner; according to a ripoff report, he has used the Langner name and also Wagner; I had asked him his last name at least twice in the beginning and he spelled it R-A-G-N-E-R.
Made a claim that there is a distributor in upstate NY making the equivalent of $450,000 and that he told Joe that he won’t stop until he reaches ½ Million.
Gave me the names, towns and phone numbers of 4 distributors, (Bill, Jack, Mike & Nigel) who had full back stories and who made their investment back in 3 months, 4 months and 5 months. They also told me about their latest commission checks that would annualize their gross income at between $72,000 and $375,000. Calls to several of these cell phone numbers now yield messages like “no longer in service”, “not reachable”. The coded message from Bill’s phone reveals that it was a prepaid phone that has run out of minutes. The phone that Bill called me back on (his wife’s, he said) appears as “number blocked” on my phone. Bill has a new phone now with his voice on the greeting. Left message, 10/20/12.

When asked about the name, Joe’s assistant, Jackie Brightfellow, hesitated and finally said, “I don’t know. You’ll have to speak to Joe about that.”
The contract that I signed is a “Distribution Agreement”, “is not construed as a franchise, license, dealership or multi-level marketing agreement” and is between America Wellness. Listed directly under their company name is (AIN # BO2597). This “BO” number expired in 2009 and was assigned to Custom Wellness, LLC, an out of business entity that was at that same address, with Joe Langner as its manager.
Upon further research, I found out that Joe Langner was the manager of several LLC’s that have been started and put out of business for a few years, all at or near that same address. The agent is
False Advertising: In the brochure which I received around July 1st, 2012, the sentence, “We are the first company to create a national program to test individuals with supplements specific to their biochemistry for correcting nutritional imbalances, removing toxins, and assisting the digestive system in assimilating foods.” This claim also appears in letters and other documents, actually naming the patent # as US 6510430.
This patent (US 6510430) actually belongs to Walgreens, Inc.
