They are knowns scam artist with a huge history of taking money from clients after signing a contract then never finishing or starting his work. Googling Joe Hisel and J h Carpentry you will see a huge, long list of people he has done this to.
I personally know 3 families which he stole huge amounts of money, over 10k, and never returned to finish the work. Joe will ignore phone calls and texts and his wife Deb will claim that he is ill. When Joe says he's ill he will post that same day of himself drinking at the local bars.
Public Court records from Will County Courthouse shows that Joe Hisel has dozens upon dozens of court cases against him from taking money from people. Right now he is even being indicted by Grundy County. There is also court records for Joe Hisel in Cook County,
The BBB.org has an extensive complaint history against J h Carpentry. Joe has also changed his business name more than one time after negative attention is given his way. Right now Joe has switched his name to Tyler Basement and Decks in order to take the public scruitiney off of the J h Carpentry name and still try to stay in business to take money from others and run.
There is extensive proof online that Joe Hisel takes other contractors pictures from their websites out of state and will post it on his Facebook pages to pose as his own. Joe has been confronted by the business owners of these pictures and will block them from contact online and then continue to post those stolen pictures pretending that they are his work.
BEWARE of this criminal. Hopefully the new court cases from both Will and Grundy County help shut this scam artit down for good.

The man ( Joe Hisel ) has no morals and will STEAL your hard-earned money just as he did to my wife and I.
He never got past digging a slab and framing it. A very very long way from our dream of a hot tub sunroom.
I'm 61 years old and have had to let go of some of resentments in my life but this man deserves worse than I can even imagine.
We saved and saved and lost it all to this immoral, lying thief.
