My car was totalled on 12/17/13. I filed with my insurance company and with JM&A group. I owed approx 3200 dollars more than the car was worth. JM&A (gap insurance group) only paid half of what was still owed, leaving (ironically) a gap. (Imagine that) They claimed that, due to excess mileage put on the car, they would only cover 50% of what was owed above what my auto insurance company paid and that this was explained in a contract. I was never shown a contract and was never told that there might be the possibility of the Gap insurance company leaving a gap in what was owed and what was paid, should an accident happen. This obviously makes it pointless to have the extra insurance. Now, I'm stuck with a 1,630 dollar payoff that I was told would never happen because of the insurance I was buying.
