I received a telephone call today, June 27, 2014, from one JOHN DATSUN, 209-257-3464 who advised me that I had been chosen, along with other individuals in the State of Indiana, to receive a Treasury Grant in the amount of $7,849. He gave me an Approval # and referred me to one FRANCISCO TORRES at 209-257-3464 to call and confirm the receipt of the Grant. Mr. DATSUN asked if I wanted the funds to be deposited into my bank account or to my Visa or Mastercard. I told Mr. Datsun I was not going to give him any personal info. Mr. Datsun said to give that info to Mr. Torres when I called him. Before I could call Mr. Torres, Mr. Datsun called back and gave me a different Approval # and then said I would have to call one JESSIE SIMPSON at 209-418-7976.
I then called JESSIE SIMPSON at 209-418-7976, gave her the Approval # and MS. SIMPSON then told me that I would have to go to Walgreen's, CVS or somewhere that sold GREEN DOT MONEY PAKS and buy a GREEN DOT MONEY PAK for $350. I was instructed by MS. SIMPSON that when I was outside the store, I was to call her and stay on the phone with her while I went into the store to buy the $350 MONEY PAK. I was then to give MS. SIMPSON the information from the MONEY PAK, with assurance from MS. SIMPSON that the $350 would be refunded at the same time as the $7,849.00 was deposited into my checking account.
The reason for the $350 MONEY PAK was to "TO PAY THE ONE TIME WIRE TRANSFER FEE" because of the size of the funds ($7,849.00) being tranferred intio my checking account. Of course, as a Paralegal for the last 25 years of my 41 year career, neither I - NO ONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND would believe this!
I then asked for MS. SIMPSON's supervisor-she said she was the floor supervisor. I asked who was the person she worked for and she said she didn't have a supervisor. I asked for the "MAIN #" of her office, allegedly the U.S. TREASURY DEPT. and MS. SIMPSON responded that it was the # that I had called her on. I told her that couldn't be because when I called, she simply answered "JESSIE SIMPSON" not U.S. TREASURY DEPT. or anything like that.
I asked JESSIE SIMPSON for her address and she stated: U.S. Government/Treasury Dept., 200 Independence Avenue, HH Building, Washington, D.C. 20201. I then asked if this was her actual location and she never responded, simply started talking over me and tried to explain agaln the terms of the ONE TIME WIRE TRANSFER, etc. I finally just hung up on her and although she called me back numerous times, I simply ignored the calls.
