I am a 70 yr old disabled lady that rented a Mother in law suite from Jerry Harris for 5 mos. My daughter & partner was acting agent for the property and lived in the main house. They were having problems with the house and the problems with it as it hadn't been worked on for years and were having the city of Scottsdale coming by for reports' They decided to go back east & Myself & Husband said we would try to put the house in order somewhat in exchange for rent . We started with cleaning that had not been done inside or out in6 yrs. The garage apt had been condemed by the city and Mr. Harris had us go & get a permit to put it back to a garage. Which he stopped as soon as the city thought he would comply. We were supposed to be compensated for our time and material, not to include our job as agents for the house. We took over maintenence, landscaping, painting & repair. Rented the apt. in house after furnishing it with our own furniture. We also rewired it ,fixed holes in the walls, plumbing, etc. Rented the apt. for $650. a mo. Which was sent to me in a duel check that I banked every month. Also forwarded all Mail to include business & taxes to N. Dakota to Mr. Harris. Mr. Harris told us at that time he was happy with $450. per mo to pay the utilities. The current renter is Mr Hugh Humphrey who is an employee of Scottsdale Water company. Then after a realator friend told Mr. Harris he could get $1800 a month for this place now, he decided we should pay him for the improvements WE did! I was taken to court on my 70th birthday and had no lawyer as we both are disabled. It took us 10 mos to fix up this place. We even put out our furniture so Jerry could sell it. If you look in the MLS under For Sale: 7802 E Shea Blvd. Scottsdale AZ. You will see my things and how nice the place was coming along. We were found guilty under a landlord/ tenant thing which isn't the truth. We have a judgement for $6,222. that we don't & won't have. As we used all our little money to repair this house and are still waiting for the Credit card "in the mail"! We are in a 28 ft 20 yr old Rv right now and it is like living in a oven. My Husband is in the VA crisis and has been for 6 yrs. Just getting around to him. I get $814. a month we live on from my Soc. Sec. The end of this is I kept all before & after photos & emails from Mr. Harris. Found out this is what he does. Also checked with the county assessor in Scottsdale & found out this has never been a Rental, EVER. Which explains alot about the tax bills coming to the rental insted of N. Dakota. I also was sent the laws that say Mr. Harris is supposedly living in this house 9 mos. out of the year. False information can cost jail time. I am wondering how long the lawyers of Mr. Harris have been falsely kicking people out and fining them when they Should know by now the deal. We also have been told by Mustang Plumbing that the plumbing is not up to code and they knew it wasn't supposed to be renters in there. Information about this rentals condition should be available by calling 602-216-9256. They have been told to do things half way and then have to fight for their pay. A home inspection will show this house was not livable as a rental. We now have a eviction on our record. which isn't true. We have had Money problems which came with bad health. We sold our home in Tennessee to come to Arizona for a better life. I guess at our age we should have not been so trusting but Mr. Harris let us believe people were not caring for his home. I was proud I made it this long without even a traffic ticket. I wish for this decission to be reversed and I want to be compinsated for all the time and money and hardship this has caused me.
