Jasper Engines and Transmission Reviews

  • May 9, 2014

In April 2013 we paid a diesel repair shop to install a new C7 300 hp engine and transmission from Jaspers Engines and Transmission. After over $30,000.00 we finally got our truck only to have it to continue to break down constantly.

1st time on the 2nd trip out the truck was parked and the next morning a large pile of oil was under it. After 6 man hours of cleaning off the oil we find the leak was from the rear main seal and exhaust mainfold gasket. The truck had to be towed $308.00 to a repair shop 24 miles away. After arguing with the warranty department at Jasper for 2 hours and multiple calls and letters they finally agreed to pay the posted shop labor rate of $80.00 an hour of the diesel mechanic (they only wanted to pay $60.00 and he wouldn't do it for that), but we had to be out the 6 hours to clean it, and the $308.00 tow bill for their bad transmission.

2nd time After it took months to get this done on the 1st time, their engine cracks the head gasket. The first tell the same repair shop to put an o ring on it. They did and sent them photos showing again that it is the head gasket. After days of waiting the repair shop finally gets a head gasket only to find it is the wrong one. Then several days later they finally get a new head gasket to only discover they didn't send all the gaskets needed during the repair. Finally they okayed them to purchase what they needed. The whole time knowing this shop charges $80.00 an hour. Needless to say we are out of our truck for weeks into months on this deal. The diesel repair calls us the third time to say our truck will be ready at a certain time only for us to send two guys and the truck won't start. Jasper had forgot to put a plug in the head gasket we were told. So here we were waiting on it again. Finally we get our truck back and now Jasper is arguing with me about paying the shop rate again. They want to pay $2400.00 of a $3249.43 bill. That isn't going to cut it with us.

3rd time Before we can even get this resolved the truck goes out for its first run after this repair and it doesn't have any power. Our driver barely makes the delivery. Knowing Jasper won't pay the tow bill we drive it slowly back to the repair shop to find that 3 injectors have gone bad. This is ridiculous. Now they are saying the repair shop hasn't followed procedure on the injector repair and they will have to get back the injectors to see if they will pay anything on that.

I just spoke with Shane there and told them that they needed to pay the entirety of this guys two bills and I am not going to be out anymore on this. That they should moralely pay me for the wages and fuel I have been out sending the truck and drivers to the repair shop constantly. They are arguing with me about the labor wages. I cannot believe a company has no sympathy for another company that has purchased their product and both items were faulty and they want us to pay for part of the repairs.

Just so everyone knows that deals with trucks and deliveries. This is a Freightliner FL60 and since we put in the Jasper transmission and engine in April we have only been able to get 13,500 miles of which about 1000 is going to and from the repair shop. No that isn't a typographical error it is only 13,500 miles. Anyone who knows trucks knows we should have well over 100,000 miles on it by now. We make runs from Oklahoma to the east coast and down to the gulf coast and over to Florida as well. I have given them one more time to pay the two bills in their entirety or we will have to go to court. We are not going to be out anymore money on their faulty engine and transmission. I cannot believe a company would do this to another company in America. I hope no one else gets caught in a mess like this.
