I sought a data retrieval online and came across InfoRetrieval with guranteed free diagnostic and free shipping + return shipping - no risk. Soon I was contacted by Rep Ronald Durup who attempted to upsell me on "faster" service for $99 so I could get results in 3 days instead of 2 weeks. I immediately stated I was going 100% no risk and was not in a hurry for my drive back. He then guranteed I would not be out of pocket for return shipping if I didn't agree with their price and sent me a free shipping label. WELL - I sent it to him and in 3 days he stated that they had already received and located the problem. Really - good thing I didn't pay you $99 for faster service. Then he proceeded to tell me I woud need to send $1,200 for "clean room" service with no guarantee of my data being recovered. So I said, "return my hard drive". He sent a link for immediate FedEx shipping which was confirmed as being shipped.
Hmmm Now from May 9th to today May 23rd - no hard drive. I get a call from a new rep, that says Ronald is no longer with the company and he will drop the fee to $725. "Excuse me - where is my hard drive... still with you apparently". Now, Michael wants $25 to return my drive. So, I call customer service, Elena, who asks me to send he a screenshot that shows my drive was to be sent no charge mentioned - I did, and she said they will send it right away. Excellent BUT - I tell her to hit reply and put her words in writing. She replies, "I'll do it in five minutes". I say, "Why can't you do it now?". Her reply, "Let's not go there" - click. No more service. I have no idea if my drive will be returned but out of principal, I'm not sending them a dime. I will sue them first.
