I was contacted by Shyla Marx of IMC Pictures to film a segment for a "Spring Showcase" segment which would be on several subsidiaries of HSN and aired to 22 million people. I met with producer Lou Pitts and administrative aide Britney Anderson and host Elizabeth Hart several times to talk about the segment.
The segment was produced, but was of extremely poor quality. I was told the segment aired on HSN subsidiaries and monitored my website analytics for changes in traffic, and there was none. The segment was never aired. All attempts to contact this company have gone unanswered.
Beware of IMC Pictures, IMC Spring Showcase, IMC Holiday Showcase.
I was approached by Paige Parker from IMC to produce a 3 minute segment for my business that was supposed to be for their "Christmas in July" showcase. I had done some research, and nothing popped up negatively regarding IMC when I had googled them at the end of April. Their Youtube site showed them doing legitimate infomercial segments for some large name companies such as Bed Bath and Beyond, Sony, and Elizabeth Hurley, so it seemed legitimate. I decided that even if the show were aired on local channels and I didn't get a lot of sales, my company would benefit from the recorded segment that I could use for promotional purposes. I signed the agreement, and wrote them a $2,000 check, which was cashed.
During the process, I talked with Doug Schaffer, Paige Parker, Britney Anderson, Elizabeth Hart, and Marc Schechter. My main contact was Britney, who was always gracious and got back to me with any questions I had. I had also talked with Elizabeth on the phone regarding the script for my segment, and she was also very helpful. I shot my segment with Elizabeth on June 7th in a studio in Ft. Lauderdale, and was told that I would receive my three minute segment for review within 10 business days, and that the segment would air 30 times throughout the month of July. When June 23rd came around and I had not yet received my segment, I emailed Britney. She promptly got back to me and let me know that she would look into it. I did not hear again from her until July 7th, when I emailed her again requesting my preview link and an update. The show was supposed to start airing at the beginning of July. I received the following email on July 7th...
"The link to your segment should be sent to you this week, as our editor that had been working on the show was dismissed by the company and took an external drive with him that had some of the shows final cuts on it. We have all the master show footage, so we are re-cutting the segments week. The show's airings will be postponed per the networks for two weeks, and instead of running throughout only the month of July the show will run mid July through mid August. They are running it as "Christmas in July - a Summer Showcase edition special". If you have any questions please let me know, and I do apologize for the inconvenience. Your segment will be to you and finished by the latest 7/14!"
When July 14th came around, I still had not received my segment, or firm dates when the show would air. I called and emailed Elizabeth Hart (the host) on July 16, and she said that she would see what was going on. That is the last I have heard from anyone. I have emailed and called, requesting that I either get the segment that Elizabeth and I taped, along with dates when the show would air, or a full refund, as the agreement was not fulfilled on their end.
If they would respond, and let me know what was going on, I would be alot more understanding, but I have been totally stonewalled. They have since hired an answering service, and send all calls to voicemail. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but it is hard to do so when repeated requests go unanswered. I am hoping that IMC decides to come through on their end and either refund my money, or fulfill their end of the agreement. If that happens, I will write a rebuttal/update to this and let people know that they did as was outlined in our agreement.
