HS Brands is an international company with offices around the world. They are a legitimate company that offers mystery shopping opportunities and discounted items/products on their website. However, someone/some organiztion is providing a fake email that asks if you would like to become a mystery shopper and asks for your personal information (your address and email are their targets. They say that once you sign up they will send you a check for the job ALONG with your assignment (Walmart, for example). They tell you to cash the chedck and then do the job. Icalled my police department to inform them of the scam and they of course already knew all about it. Don't sign up and don't cash that check!!! Whereever you cash the check will be defrauded and come after you for their money. As stated before, the company is legitimate; the email is what's fradulent. The address given for the company is:
250 E. 5th St., floor #9
Cincinnati, Ohio 45202
If you get one of these emails and give them your information you will undoubtedly get mail from them with the assifgnment and check. Keep it all:BUT DO NOT CASH THE CHECK!!! If it is sent by USPS, return it to them with an explaination as to why you have brfought the check in. They can track where it came from and pursue thye matter from there. If it comes UPS, Fed Ex, or DHL they can track the return address also. BUT, do not look for much to be done. These scams abound, and these companies have scores of these types of scam reports coming across their desks. SO BE CAREFUL, AND DO NOT CASH THAT CHECK!!!
I answered a add for mystery shopper to make extra money. I gat a response from a agent named Mathew J Singer from HS Brand International. I was sent a cashier,s check for 1980.00 to use for my assignment. I was to send $750 Money gram to David Martins and $750.00 Western Union to same person. And keep the rest of money$400.00. Using $80 for the fees. My bank sent the check back today May 6, 2015. So the check was no good!
I had paid bills with that money. So now I am screwed out of 1980.00 And have to pay my bank the money which I don't have. I used my debit card to pay for my personal transactions.
They sent me a email about a job opportunity on being a mystery shopper. I emailed back the information they asked for... next day they sent a email stating congratulations and they will be sending me my assignment along with a check of the amount of 1,980 to mystery shop western union and money gram along with the information of sender my commission would be 400. In the instructions it said deposit check to my bank account & if placed on hold wait till tomorrow. Well the next morning I received a call from my bank that check was fake.
