We booked a room in Flagstaff Arizona for 3 nights at the Howard Johnson's on Lucky Lane, off exit 198 from the I 40. The reviews online looked good and I honestly don't remember which website I used to do the booking. After getting the keys and entering the room we were shocked, the carpet had dark stains, the bed spread also had dark stains, the floor in the bathroom was dirty and so was the tub! On top of all this there was a urine smell in the room! Thinking that we may do better with another room we looked at two more rooms and found that they were in the same condition as the first! We went back to Liz at the front desk and asked for a refund, she told us that the hotel hadn't charged us and that we would have to get a refund through Experian. After many calls to Experian it turned out that Sanjay Patel, the Howard Johnson manager, just doesn't refund Experian even though the room isn't occupied! So we ended up paying for 3 nights though we didn't even sleep in the stinky, urine soaked room!
Avoid this place like the plague! BTW when looking for another hotel to stay in we also looked at a room in the Super 8 hotel next door and this place was as filthy as the Howard Johnsons. Turns out that good ole Sanjay manages that one too!
Thanks Sanjay, way to rip people off and double book your filthy, dirty, urine-smelling, outdated, germ-infested rooms!
Do not book at the Howard Johnsons Exit 198 I 40 on Lucky Lane in Flagstaff AZ 86004!!! If you do book there make sure your hepatitis shots are up to date, with the filth that Sanjay specializes in, you will need them.
