I called Peekskill Appliance Repair on June 16 because my refrigerator was not cooling. A person named Wade Oxley who claimed to work for Howard Appliance Repair came to my house and diagnosed the problem, then attempted to repair the refrigerator. He charged me $287.
The next day, the unit was still not working properly. Wade came out again and said I would need a new thermostat, and asked for another $166 to order the part, which I gave him because he seemed friendly and genuine (stupid of me in retrospect but I was preparing to move and needed it fixed!). That was June 20.
Time went by, and finally on June 30 he left me a voicemail. When I returned his call asking when he would come back to complete the repair, he began to act annoyed and said it would be next week. He agreed to come on Monday July 6 at 10am.
On July 6, he did not show up.
He would not answer my calls (he has only a cell phone).
Instead, Wade Oxley sent belligerent text messages to me, telling me he was not working and to take up my problem with the Peekskill Appliance Repair. He claimed he didn't know what money I was taking about! When I complained that he had taken over $400 of my money and the refrigerator was still not working properly, he wrote "maybe you should lay off the coffee LOL."
I tried to contact Peekskill Appliance Repair again to complain, and was given the runaround by several people, one was in Arizona and another "manager" calling from a Florida number, who promised to send out someone else then never got back to me.
I went to the address for Peekskill Appliance Repair that is listed on the Internet as 55 Hudson Ave in Peekskill, and the address is fictitious-- the place does not exist. If you call them you get an answering service.
Howard Applicance Repair (Wade Oxley) has five claims filed against him with the Better Business Bureau, and many negative reviews online with the exact same story as mine.
This guy and his fake companies need to be shut down before they rip off more people.
