House of Brides is a nightmare! Do not do business with them! I ordered a handbag for my wedding from these people. Two weeks later when it still had not shipped, I contacted the company only to discover that they no longer sold this item, leaving me to have to scramble to find another purse. There was no communication from House of Brides notifying me of the issue before I called them. Natrually I asked for a refund.
After returning home from my honeymoon ... this was weeks later ... I found they still had not credited my account. I called once again and was told that returning my money could take up to 30 days! Didn't matter that this issue was not my fault. Didn't matter that they had already kept my money for two weeks after I placed my order without notifying me they could not fill it. I have now called them three times trying to get a response, and just today, as their bizarre 30-day refund deadline approaches, they are now telling me they require 30 "business days."
I should also mention that the customer service representatives will not give me any update as to the status of my refund when I call, they only say "it takes up to 30 days for a refund." They have no explanation as to why it takes so long for a refund and my attempts to speak to a manager have gone unanswered.
House of Brides is a dishonest company. You should avoid doing any sort of business with them at all costs!
To make a long story a bit shorter, my daughter's wedding was ruined by the House of Brides store in Schaumburg, Illinois because the 5 bridesmaids dresses arrived too late to use. The House of Brides claims that it was my daughter's fault because she told them there were 6 bridesmaids, so they said their manufacturer was waiting for measurements of a non-existent person. The House of Brides consultant knew there were always only 5, and submitted the order in a very timely manner. But the House of Brides refused to refund any portion of the cost when they came in late and my daughter is doing the honorable thing and paying each of her friends for the cost. The House of Brides even refused to steam the dresses. I will steam them myself before we donate them. The bridesmaids will wear any black dress out of their closet rather than the blue ones we had ordered. A sad thing, indeed for my daughter, who is on active duty and a Major in the United States Air Force, who is put in harms way to protect the nasty rude people at House of Brides.
Although there is nothing else we can do since they won't give us copies of the paperwork to prove that they are wrong, (they said they shredded them) I post this here in hopes that other brides will not have their weddings ruined. Please check out Yelp and the Better Business Bureau to see the complaints against this company, something we should have done!

They claimed they had my dress and after days of being indesicive, I made the biggest mistake of ordering it from them. I payed my order with my Debit card and the money was withdraw from my account in full within less than 24hrs. However, 2 days later, I received an email from "Joan" from house of brides saying that they did not had my dress and that my order was being canceled. Them my nightmare started 'cause it's been 12 days since that email and I have not been refund. I've tried to call the store and the only time I was able to talk to someone, they guarantee me that my order was canceled and that it was sent to "their refund department". Since then, I haven't been able to contact anyone there because nobody answers the phone or neither have I receive any respond from my emails. I feel robed and that I'm talking to a wall, trying to find a solution for this situation. I tried to contact my bank to see what could I do and maybe dispute this transaction to find out that debit card transactions are "indisputable" because its "cash money" transaction. I'm so mad about this whole story. It's steeling and I don't know what to do about it! I will never recommend this store to anyone and I HOPE TO GOD THAT people search this company before doing any type of transaction with them!
