This company should be investigated!!!!!!! I thought I was booking directly with the hotel. The web address was the name of the hotel- reservations.com. When I booked with them, the site changed my dates to default dates because I didn't tap "check availability" when I entered my dates.
I called immediately. They told me it might be Monday or Tuesday, but they would resolve the problem with the hotel. On Tuesday, they told me Diamond Resorts was difficult to work with, but HotelPlus got them to refund all but 20 percent.
I decided to call Diamond just to voice my disappointment, and was told that Diamond Hotels told HotelPlus that it was an honest mistake and my dates were to be changed to the correct dates with no penalty.
I called HotelPlus back. They told me that their contact at Diamond said the fee for canceling was 20 percent. I asked for the name of the person at Diamond. They would not give it to me. I asked them to call the person with whom I spoke. They would not call. Finally, HotelPlus admitted the fee charged was theirs for rebooking....over $100 to change a date??????
They were sorry I was misinformed earlier when I was told that it was Diamond charging the fee. She told me it was my fault for not realizing the dates had been changed before submitting. She said, "You are a teacher. It is like a student who doesn't check over their answers carefully on a test."
I said, " I don't change their answers to the wrong answer!" And she said, "Well, you give choices in a multiple choice test!" Seriously...... I have contacted my credit card company and the BBB.
the only PLUS I see in HotelsPLus is the $100 they pocketed for changing my dates to their DEFAULT dates! Beware!!!!!
