We have bought sevral of these cheap wind turbines from Hornet Wind Turbines. The sensational advertising when compared to the rest of the industry is to be laughed at in retrospect. We were new to wind power and had no idea what to expect or what should be realistic. The guy had 100 percent feedback on e bay and it looked like it was legit. We did not install these units for several months after purchase at which time it is too late to get your money back. Further research indicated many others are having the same experiences and this cheap thing came to us rusted out of the box. The advertised 1600 watt output is laughable. 300 watts max in 50 mph plus wind.
After sanding and painting we have never seen more than 1/6 th tha advertsied output of these products max. We have contacted numerouse other companies in the same line of business which pretty much universally regarded the business as a scam. They did not use those words but all stated you are not going to see the advertised power out of the units. So in short these turbines are made with blastic and thin gauge rusting metal, no carbon fiber and do not turn until high winds yet are descrived as low wind performing products. The advertisment that consumers can make a wind farm for 25 cents per watt is blantantly:
untrue or misleading,
and which is known, or which by the exercise of reasonable care
should be known, to be untrue or misleading
My wind farm will have a payback period of ""never""
We will be doing a chargeback on our credit card for these items and making a report to:
We bought a wind turbine advertised to out put 1600 watts from the Hornet Wind Turbine company on e bay and appearanty other internet outlets. Which also appears to be in the UK @ windgenerator.org The unit was purchased it was purchase in the USA but we cannot find and informaton and to contact these people that will work and the dealer in the UK is about as worthless. No response from e mail from his as well This wind turbine is advertised to perform in low winds and will not. We purchased a volt meter and the piece of crap with not charge a battery even in high winds. It will not even reach the voltage not have we seen more than 30 watts from this unit.
Avoid these people at all costs. I looked up the address in google which appears to go to a UPS BOX. I think This about covers it. The damn thing is a fraud whcih I was able to see clearly as I looked into the other trade name Thermodyne Hydrogen Appliances. Once I googled that one it was appearant I had been screwed. I was sickened watching this video as I have seen with others I have wasted about 400$ with shiping.
We should have known better . It was under 300$ and advertised to make 1600 watts which should have been the first clue. This thing is made from cheap thin gauge metal and what appears to be recyled plastic. The thing will not even turn until the wind exceeds 12 - 15 miles per hour. I am pissed this was only to run minimal electrical need at a camp site and I would have been better off buying a solar panel.

If you have had similar experiences we advise one you get an expensive watt meter stop listening
to the smooth talker because the conclusion i have drawn is simply these guys know they are lying
and it is their scam.
