I was selling a piece of jewelry on Craigslist. Received a text message from an individual who seemed interested in buying it. He claimed he was working away from his resources and would arrange for the money to be sent to me in the form of a check. He also said he would include extra money for holding it for him, and money for the "moving company". That's where he lost me.
I played along, assuming this was a scam since he never told me his name, where he actually was, what the "moving company" referred to, etc.
10 days later I received a check in the mail via 1-day Priority mail. The return address on the envelope was from Home Construction Co @ 3401 E Chapman Ave, Orange Ca 92869. Inside the envelope was a check for $2550. (the ring I was selling was only $700) The check was from Cornerstone Christian School in Wildomar, Ca and "signed" by Angela Lee. The bank linked to the check is BBVA Compass Bank in Canyon Lake, Ca.
Along with the check was a typed note instructing me to notify them via email that I had received the check, and so they could give me further instructions before depositing the check.
I called the bank and they confirmed the check was fraudulent. I tore up the check and immediately came to this site to report the incident.
Wow,my boyfriend let greed takeover,he corresponded with a man named James Hill from this Construction company who after a few emails sent a check for the same amount $2500 ,I didn't find out till after he deposit the check then he told me,I flipped out looked up the company and saw this site and this review and flipped out again. Who the hell are these people? A church? Why are they doing this? I want to investigate undercover.
