I recieved a call from a man who had some difficulty speaking English. He stated that he wanted me to participate in a Holiday Inn survey. I'm a platinum IHG member so I thought it was on the level. The survey was only a couple questions then he wanted me to speak to another person in the rewards group. This time it was an extremely hight pressure lady who wanted me to try out one of their new resort hotels. I didn't want to do it since I have a lot of points and can stay pretty much where I want for free. She promised me a lot and said there was no risk, I would pay $199 but the money would be refunded when I stayed at the hotel and listened to sales pitch (which BTW is for time shares I found out later). After about 3 weeks I decided I didn't want to do any of that so I called for my refund but now they are saying there are no refunds! I can't believe that a large company like Holiday Inn is actually involved in scams!
My wife was transferred to a Holiday Inn Club representative after making reservation for military lodging at Fort Belvoir, VA she kept telling the representative no, but the additional offers kept coming until my wife caved and agreed to a three night stay at a Holiday Inn Club resort, which ended up being a front for high pressure time share sales. When she got home from work she told me about it. We have been scammed by these high pressure tactics in Florida to obtain Disney passes and I wasn't about to go through that hassle again, but when we called they told her the offer was a discounted offer and non-refundable which they don't bother telling you until you make the purchase if even then. We reported her credit card lost the same day and are disputing the charge. Unless you enjoy sitting through high pressure sales pitches for time shares to get a resort stay, I say buyer beware you aren't getting your money back and you can't change your mind except to just not go and get charged for it.
I encountered the same situation as described by others($20 change fee not communicated, $300 or more penalty not communicated, fact that place you may stay is a Holiday Inn Family Property and not the resort(and may not be immidiately nearby) not communicated.)
In addition you will also pay local hotel fees and taxes.
I advise all others to read the confirmation you receive and note that you have rights of cancellation in various states which is contained in a link. In most cases you have 14 days but have to print off and sign a confusing form.
This is the second time I wrote this complaint, the first one never was published. But let's get to it. My wife book a hotel room with the Holiday Inn in Salem N.H.,when she was done they transferred her to a time share sales person who talked her into paying $199.00 for a 3 night stay at Myrtle beach S.C. I found out later about what she signed on for so I called them back and tried to explain we wouldn't be able to attend their promotion. Right away I was told no refunds, and I explained to them that my wife has AlzheImer's and was probably a little confused and just went along with it not really understanding what she was doing. Well they could care less about my situation and making sure they didn't have to give me a refund .I asked to talk to a supervisor and she told me I have to have her doctor to send medical information and they would review it.I have no intension sending them and medical info. If anyone is dealing with this group please check other reviews about their misgivings,I'm pretty sure it is a bait and switch scam. Another thing I found out is that the &199.00 isn't enough for them if you can't show up, then they try to charge you 300.00 for not showing up on top of the $199.00. The best thing people can do is to stay clear of these people. My opinion is when you deal with anyone so desperate for money the way this group is, STAY CLEAR.

That is exactly what I plan to do.
