My husband sent me out to find a used transmission for our truck, which led me to Heritage Auto Parts and Salvage. The price they quoted me was good, but it turns out that the part he sold me would not work in our truck, according to 4 different mechanics. I had to wait a day for the part to be pulled from a 4 wheel drive truck to go into our 2 wheel drive truck, but was completely assured that it would work. The owner even said for me to have my mechanic call him about it. After talking to the mechanics and was told that the part wouldn't work, I went to Heritage to get my money back. I had paid for the part in full ($685) but was rudely informed that they charge a "restocking fee" of 20%. When I told him I'd see him in court, he told me to take my paid for transmission and leave. I eventually got $545 back in the form of a check, but I fully intend to take him to court. There is no signage of any policies anywhere in the store or on the doors entering the building. I have pictures to prove it. There was no warranty or return policy on my receipt, either. He lied and told me he had to pay someone for 6 hours labor to take that part out of the 4WD truck, which I know is a lie because I know the guy that took it out. He also lied telling me that part would work when mechanics later told me it would not. I want justice and intend to fight for it. Do not waste your time and money on Heritage Auto Parts.
