Heniff does not honor their lease or compensation packages they promise. Contract shows I was to be paid 68% and when I received my checks I was paid 65 %. When asked why was told that I did not have a pump or compressor which was not a requiremnt of the lease. Lease did not state you got less money for for no pump no compressor. They do not pay a fuel surcharge to Owner operators like their advertisements states. When I left Heniff I was told I owed Nothing to the company by Bubba Munson. It is Now 69 days later and I have yet to get a statement or a refund of my 4000.00 escrow. This company has very Low communication skills and Constantly pressuring you to do things that are against Common sense and morals. Inspections of Lease trucks is a constant battle and Company vehicles are allowed to operate with slick tires leaking exhaust just to name a few. This company is one that should be avoided at all Cost.
After I applied for employment to Heniff, my application was transfered to the Pasadena, TX terminal manager Tim Ruth who contacted me quickly after reviewing my qualifications and pretty much pleaded with me to come on board citing urgent freight and he couldn't hire enough drivers. No job=no income so I took the job after much consideration.
By day 2 of orientation, three things became quickly apparant: 1. No guidance will be given on how to do things the Heniff way. 2. This is a forced dispatch company; as the owner Bob Heniff, Sr put it to us students, "if we give you a trip we expect you to take it". This is an over the road company and all applicants must be experienced, seasoned tanker drivers. 3. New drivers will learn as they go and learn from their mistakes as no training will be given; and he was exactly right. I figured really quick that I was in over my head as information was being presented that I wasn't familiar with having handled dedicated freight from my previous employer.
I'd fully expected to be put with a local driver for a short time but never happened so I learned as I went and made a lot of big mistakes. I also started seeing the lack of freight that this terminal handled which threw up a big red flag as I'd applied as a dedicated driver. It became apparant that if I was to be a part of the freight flow I'd have to change over to an over the road driver.
Well they had enough when I was handed a trip while I was in IL to take a load of aircraft deicer to Lubbock, TX and took it even though I was way overdue to be sent home, and another bad winter storm was brewing and told Joliet dispatch so and what did they do, they dispatched me right into the storm. I go to have the trailer filled and depart the area and find out that dispatch gave me the wrong outage chart which tells the loaders how much liquid is in the trailer at so many inches. The loaders discover this while getting ready to load and I knew right then this trip was tattoed and it was big time late due to being held up by weather and traffic. I had to wait until the next morning to have the correct chart faxed over and there was no outage chart welded to the trailer by the maker which stopped the operation.
Tim Ruth told me that I wasn't a good fit for this company and there was not enough freight to keep me busy so I was laid off but I knew deep inside that the TX trip was the real reason for what was done to me. I did the best I could with what knowlege I had and certainly wasn't going to be taught the Heniff way. It was obvious that Heniff wanted me to keep driving regardless of the sleet that we were hammered with and Arkansas doesn't have what it takes to deal with winter weather.
In summation, I cannot recommend Heniff as they were less than honest with me. If you are not a seasoned experienced over the road tanker driver, don't apply as they will find a reason to get rid of you.
