Stay FAR FAR AWAY from the dealership! You have been warned. Dealerships like this is why people in the car business have a bad rep. Classic BAIT & SWITCH!
I'll start off by saying that I have purchased 30 cars over the past 10 years and have never had a experience as bad as this one.
When it comes to car shopping, I'm the type of person that pretty much knows what I'm looking for. I go in with a deal in mind, if they can't accomplish it, I walk and we move on and part ways. If they do, then I buy the car.
What happened was, I visited ""G"" on after reading his rave reviews and he presented a few cars that I was interested in. He appraised a trade I had and we worked on some numbers. I told him I did not want to use the trade as a down payment and he understood. We looked at the numbers and I said I was not interested in the car at the numbers he presented. He then asked me what price OTD (Out the door) would I be willing to pay? I stated my price and he said he couldn't do it so I thanked him and left.
The next day I get a VM from him stating he had good news and to call him. I called him and he said he was able to make the deal happen. I said great, I'll call him back. I called back and left TWO messages and didn't get a call back. I called the next morning and left another message and I finally got a call back from him and I said I was going to stop by for the second appraisal of another car.
I went out of my way from Sterling to go see him and they appraised my car. After the appraisal he comes to me looking a bit confused and concerned and asked me what exactly I was trying to do. I tell him again that I'm looking to trade the two cars in and get the positive equity out of it and put the cash in my pocket. He walked away and came back 5 minutes later with Tarique. Tarique asked me what price I wanted to be at. I told him the same thing I told G two days prior and he said ok and walked away. Minutes later G and Tarique come back with Wais and ask again where I wanted to be, I once again told them. They start to proceed to tell me that it was a misunderstanding and that they thought I was using my trades to get to my ""OTD"" Price. I told them no, I said from the start that wasn't the case.
They then started to play the confusing numbers game. They said it was included in the original quote, which actually puts the deal at $2700 MORE than they first offered, which was a total lie, they have the original quote. Then they offered to that I give them 2k from my trade and they could do the deal. Unfortunately that comes up to $600 MORE than the original offer that I refused the FIRST time I was in there.
So not only did they lie to me, they tried to get me for MORE money then the first time!
Moral of the story, BUYER BEWARE! Shop elsewhere! Don't let the smile fool you, you're still at a car dealership. A slimy one at that.
