I had previously worked for Hemingway Consulting and the only thing I got out of this poorly managed company was Debt! They do a good job talking highly of the job, advancement rate, and success; but if you ask any of the employees to answer truthfully they will all tell you it's a lie! While working for the company we were told to build our team at any cost. I had to misled and lie to interviews to get them to accept the jobs. They claim that the hiring process is extensive, but that's a joke! It all depends if the employee you shadow for the day likes you. If they do you get the job; if not, well you get the point.
You may see good reviews on sites but there were even days where we were Not Allowed to leave in the morning until we wrote good reviews on sites such as this. Once the reviews were written, we were allowed to go out to the field and actually do our job.
The longer I stuck with the company, the deeper I felt myself becoming involved in the sunk cost fallacy. Even though the position was 100% commission, my worries seemed to lessen by the "promise" that reps made between $600 and $800 weekly. In reality, the highest check I ever had was around 700, but that was once during my time with the company. My paychecks averaged between $100 and $300. My credit has been completely ruined because not only was I making any money, but then you are expected to pay gas, pay for lunches for interviews and trainees, pay for Mandatory team nights, and You are reimbursed for NONE of those expenses.
I had to set aside between $100 and $200 just to cover these expenses that hardly ever had anything to do with me and my actual job. If anything it was slowing me down and just costing me more and more money. I was unable to pay for basic necessities such as rent, groceries, or anything else and had to turn to my parents for help when I was already putting in well over 50 hours a week. Mandatory team nights were also an expense that was dragging several of us down. After working a long stressful day we Absolutely had to attend which was typically at a local bar or restaurant. We were expected to pay our own way and often team members wouldn't even order food or beverages because they too could not afford to.
The management uses manipulation and threats to keep employees around. If you think about quitting or ask any kind of questions you are immediately written of as negative, stupid, or my favorite: "unable to recognize the opportunity"!
Frequent manipulations used by the company: if you quit, you're weak. If you don't make a certain amount per week, you're weak. What else could you possibly do to ever make Money? Don't you want to buy your future children whatever they need? And if you ask how you can better yourself to make more money, you are often told to "see more doors, your pitch is incorrect or needs work, work harder..."
There are zero benefits. ZERO. Even when you move up in the business. It's a joke. Every cost comes out of pocket. If you move to a different city for the business, no help from the company and you are encouraged/expected to pay the moving costs of the team you are taking with you!
I have also received threatening phone calls from customers, their spouses, etc about concern of being scammed, having poor service from the phone company or their new phones. When I approached Mark Price about the problem he would just say, "well is it past their cancelation period?" If not, we were advised to tell the customer anything and everything just to keep them happy. If they were no longer able to cancel services, I was told to ignore the calls and forget about it because I already got paid for their account and it's not our problem!
You can read any other review about hemingway consulting, instile acquisitions, team one Chicago, kd concepts, or just cydcor in general and you will see what a scam and a waste of time these all are. It is only about 1% of people who can actually make it in these companies and most is done by scamming people.
I have seen several other posts from ex employees and the rebuttle where Hemingway tries to reclaim themselves by saying that these bad reports are written because we are angry we were fired. When in reality many people quit far before they get fired here. Even after I had quit, I was asked to come back to work for them. So No I was not fired, I just feel that people should really know what type of people they are dealing with whether it be as an employee or a customer.
