The company advertises caregiver services. I trusted them by giving them $2,000 upfront for services on about February 23, 2015. The understanding was that any unused hours for their service would be refundable. They supplied two different caregivers that quit, without notice, for very minor reasons.
The Hearts of Joy company charged me $16/hr for a combined 48 hours. They paid the most qualified person $10/hour. The company representatives ( Yvonne Nobles and Louis Nobles) were argumentative, combative and uncooperative.
They suggested that we look for alternate services. I requested a refund for the remaining hours and this was refused. We offered to pay them $18/hr for all service hours performed and requested a refund of $1,136 This offer was refused. We tried to negotiate a settlement through their religious organization for several weeks without success.
The company refused to give any refund whatsoever and told us that for reduced hours, less than originally planned, would be priced at a ridiculous bill rate of $50/hr and there was all sorts of cancellation and administrative fees that resulted in us owing them $1400! They admitted in a text communication, dated April 30, 2015 that the inflated charges were never discussed previously with us. Still they refused to give any refund.
I would strong suggest that no one trust or use this company because of their unreliable and dishonest business services.
Details about the refund calculation:
In an email from Yvonne Nobles dated February 24, 2015, you will notice that they indicated that the difference between the bulk hour charge and the full charge was a total of $500.
Recall that we used a total of 48 hours of their service. The maximum rate they could calculate based on their own Feb 24 email is $16/hr + $4/hr = $20/hr.
Using their figure ($500) and a prorated amount 48/125 =0.384 or 38.4% of $500 = $192 difference in charge between bulk hours and so called regular rate hours.
The reduced rate in their email was $16/hr so adding the difference is $192/48 hours = $4/hr. The maximum total possible to calculate is $16/hr + $4/hr = $20/hr. We offered them $18/hr as a compromise. The text below from Louis Nobles show a much different story.
As discussed above, they refunded zero dollars after 48 Hours of service. Then tried to dishonestly raise the price to $50/hr and tack on all sorts of cancellation fees (see Louis Nobles text communication below). This was never discussed in advance as Louis Nobles admits in his note to us.
