My mother made reservations back in April to come stay the weekend before Memorial Day weekend 2014. She got a discount through AAA or something similar so she called to get the rates for a 4 night stay. They told her the rates were wrong as she looked at them while she was on the phone with them and told them she has them in front of her. She proceeds to reserve the rooms thinking they put her discount in. She called a few days later to make sure everything was ok and they lied to her and never put the rates in.
After she got them squared away for the 2nd time she figured everything was ok. We traveled about 8 hours on May16th and about 45min away from getting into Conyers to check in, a Josh at this hotel calls and tells us that another couple decided to extend their stay and he gave our room away because there was nothing left for them at the hotel. Not only did they give our room away when we had reservations in hand printed out, but they told us there's nothing they can do but find another place for us to stay at another location. We said absolutely not we need our room. Josh proceeded to tell us that that wasn't going to happen.
We called the 1-800# which they were not very helpful either and told us Josh said that we cancelled our stay! Why the hell after traveling 8 hours from Florida that day would we cancel our reservations 45 min away?! We proceeded to stay at another Wyndham hotel called Microtel. The man in the office upgraded us to a suite and informed us that this has happened numerous times from this Hawthorne hotel before.
Never will I ever recommend anyone staying here nor will I ever stay at a Wyndham hotel again. I am going to report them to the BBB and call Clark Howard and inform them of this incident and hopes this never happens again to anyone!
