I went in to pay only my tolls over a year ago and have $36 of unpaid tolls brought to my attention by Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, LLP. Apparently the lady that calculated my tolls missed two weeks worth and now $36 of unpaid tolls has turned into a $536 bill (all fees). I was of course not notified until now. This is illegal and the criminals getting rich off this system need to be stopped! The fee's being collected are primarily going to the lawyers and not the toll road, nor Harris County.
I think that the HCTRA is not receiving enough riders or EZ tag holders to maintain it and so they invent violations. I received an invoice dated May 14 in May for 3 violations for one set of days. I paid it grudgingly because my son admitted that he did not realize this previously untolled section of Hwy 249 was now tolled. There are no clear signs to date that it is now a toll road. On August 6, I received a collection letter for 3 violations in May. I call the collection agency (Linebarger Goggins). I state that I paid the violations. She states there are 3 different dates than the ones I paid for. I ask where I can go to view the screen shot. She gives me the HCTRA's website address. There isn't a screen shot. I open the paid and unpaid invoices and they appear to be the same dates and times except with the additional $42 for the collection agency. I call her back. She in the meantime had attempted to call me back. I attempt to open the invoice while she is on the phone to help her see that these are the same dates and suddenly I can't open it. She states she will email to me the invoice. I did not receive it. I look again after 8 when Linebarger is closed and was able to open it and now I see 3 new dates going in the same direction as the previous invoice but in the evening hours. I believe the invoice was manipulated for one thing. For another thing, I did not receive this invoice. How do you prove a negative? The invoices were supposedly sent on the same day but I only received one and once more than 45 days has passed since it was due, I received a collection letter with the fee. I wish Michael Koubach (sp?) would handle this as he did the red-light camera ripoff. HCTRA is ripping people off and there is no recourse. Going to that court thing will not benefit you. I haven't read a case where anyone has won it because you can't prove a negative and they do not have to have a photo (that may or may not have been manipulated).
Someone please help. Harris county Toll road is charging me over $1600 on toll fees for not updating my credit card address. Now I have a court date and I don't know what to do. I tried to looks for lawyers to help me but this crazy fees and I didn't have any luck. I tried to talk to the toll services and they would not help. Would someone please help ? :( for what I have read online from others, If I go in to court, they are not willing to help and they will make me pay all the fees. I don't have that kind of money. This is not ok. For something that is less $100 they are charging me $1600 for it! I can't believe this
I am writting this today to say that i have had a huge headache with HCTRA/EZ TAG these past few months. They are charging me $10,000.00 in violation fee's stating that the credit card on file was never updated but per the history we were making manual payments weekly. At this point sounds like they do not want to waive anything and also informed me that they will have a cop come serve me to go to court. I had a different account and 2 weeks ago i paid $200 and about $300 in fee's were waived. The rep informed me per their Manager the system should of recognized that account had that amount due in violations and should of cancelled my acct completely. I advised them the same thing that happen to that acct happen to the 10k acct because I can still log in to that account it shows the acct still being active with a positive balance of $11. An attorney informed me i can file chapter 7 or 13 bankrupcy but am trying to avoid that. If anyone has any information on what i can do to get this cleared i would greatly appreaciate it. I'm in the same boat, I apperently had lapsed my TXTag account due to the cnacelation of my bank card with Case's Target fraud issue and HCTRA tried to chage the axxount and it returned it as nonpayment. so after paying TXTag all fees and reinstating my tag I had no comunication from anyone until I received a court summins a few months later. after going through all three venues I am not given any options I either pay the full fee or go to court.
right now I'm leery of this due to never having delt with any of this before. other than a number of traffic accidents I've never even had so much as a parking ticket, and this is being held as a administrative trial. I just honestly am stressed out I have read numerous reports reguarding this and all seem to be the same people have had to just grit down and take it. This realy wouldn't have been so bad if at first TX Tag had somehow contacted me (not as though they dont have my phone or email on file) and said hey this guy is on a automaticly paid account and its not working he probibly doesnt know this is happening (we all get busy Yes No excuse) but I just feel there should be some flag sent out some type of alert before it gets to hey you now have violations due to your account going inactive because of this.
anybody got some ideas or tips I'd like to hear them. And Thank You.
