The Gwinnett County Water Resources does not really provide anything to help those on their critical call list. They have stated that they will only call the individual to inform them when they are shutting their water off; However, after speaking with one of their employees, I was informed that they don't even do this hardly because they have too many customers. I think that for customers who are placed on the critical call list, their shut-off dates should be delayed for 30 days because shutting off the water would aggrivate illness.
The critical call list should be setup for those who have medical conditions that would be aggrivated by shutting off the water. After speaking with their customer service reps and supervisors, I really think they are very rude and could careless about the welfare of other people. I would really like to have a choice in my water company. I don't like being obligated to pay one company for water. Consumers should have a choice especially when there are customer service issues, and poor policies regarding those with medical conditions.
I connected my water at gwinnett county water resources on february 28th 20104. Moved in to my new rental house on 3/5/14 since gas would be connected on this day. i received my first water bill on 3/26/14 for $767.26. I know no one with a normal home of two adults and two kids should ever have to pay this much for water. I have tried to contact them and always got, you must have a water leak, or your landlord must have washed your house or you may have a running toilet etc. or maybe a bad water meter which if i wanted it tested it would be $100.00 for testing. I let my landord know and he sent out someone to check for leaks, they tested the meter meter was good, no leaks found. Second bill came ( first bill still unpaid ) this month from 3/28/14 to 4/24/14 for $50.00 plus a late fee of 10% of unpaid balance. so this month water usage was regular and still no one can help me solve this 761.00 plus late fee. I called them again, let them know i could not pay this, they said they could take off 150.00 and late fee. still a lot of money, I pay them 150.00 online. and while landlord has been contacting them about the bill outrageous and trying to settle about payment that i am not willing to pay because i did not use or ever saw this water. today on 5/28/14 they disconnect my water bill. I am very frustrated with this company, i wish as consumers we had a choice about this type of services. just seems like i am being charged for previous customers unpaid balance because now water billing is normal tho they say i may have a leak that suddenly fixed itself? . I am now going to proceed with court, I do not know who is responsible water or landlord but i am sure it is unfair to be charged for this amount of water. ps. My last residence in gwinnett was about 1000.00 for a period of 7 months when city of norcross switched over to gwinnett county they never sent out a bill until many many months later. almost same amount for one month in my new home.
