The neighbors put Gutter Shutters up and they looked great. We were on the list of people that our neighbor gave them to get an incentive so Gutter Shutter contacted us. Like West Sider, we got the hard push sale and we even told the sales guy they were overpriced but he did a good job of selling Maintenance Free and that was important to us. He also stressed the safety issue of how dangerous it is cleaning out gutters and startd spewing facts about ladder accidents.
After the sale but before our gutters were installed the first snow storm came. The neighbor's gutters had ice cycles from one end to the other. We called Gutter Shutter and told them we wanted to cancel. They told us to read the fine print. You only have 10 days to cancel the contract. The guarantee is they will repair them or come and knock the ice cycles off.
We are now in our second winter and teh ice cycles are a problem every time it snows. Please don't visit us because the entry to our house is dangerous both from the threat of ice cycles falling on your head and the ice that forms on the sidewalk from the dripping.
Gutter Shutter told us it was because we have too much heat loss. That can't be the problem because the entire 70 feet on the front of the house is either on the porch or the unheated garage. As West Sider stated, as soon as the melting snow hits the cover it freezes and starts forming an ice damn.
I would suggest you stop by their both at the Home and Garden Show and ask them about this. I did and the lady told me that, and I quote, "they didn't tell us that was a problem when they hired us to come here". They don't even have their own employees at the Show.
This product is probably great anywhere they don't EVER get below freezing but in Cincinnati I highly recommend you stay clear.
On closing, the maintenance free is a sales line too. We have to clean our twice a year or they look dirty. I will be removing the hoods next year after the leaves fall. These gutters are just too dangerous to have on the house.
Sarah this is a public forum so I don't want to put by address on here so I tried to attach a picture taken 3/1/2015 in the Great Cincinnati area. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.

I support the West Sider and dispute Sarah.
