This report is basically about Guthey-Renker's billing/shipping practices.
Whenever you place an order online to try out one of their products, the only way you can place an order is to agree to their "Terms & Conditions". However, buried in the terms & conditions, you also agree to receive continuous shipments every 90 days (the 1st shipment arrives within 30 days of your first order).
You cannot order their products unless you agree to their Terms & Conditions. I think it's unfair to not give consumers the option to "Opt in or out" of continuous shipments when you place your initial order.
In addition, the only way you can cancel their continuous shipments is to call their 1-800 phone number. Guther-Renker (despite being a very successful large business) does not have the software technology to allow consumers to go online and cancel your account. However, they do have the technology to allow you to update the frequency of your shipments. Hmmmm that sounds very convenient for them.
I ordered the sheer cover product and was disappointed with it so I sent an e-mail to cancel my future orders, this was in October 2014. In February 2015 I get a bill in the mail saying that I owe them money so I call the number and they tell me that I can cancel if I pay the outstanding balance. I check my bank statements and they took money out of my account in November and December after I canceled!! My card was hacked so my bank sent me a new one so they can't take anymore of my money and that is why they sent the letter. From where I am sitting they owe me two payments of $32.94. I tell the woman one the phone that no matter how she says it I am not paying anything and that they owe me money!! How can they keep taking money out of my account after I canceled?? And they still did not cancel my orders they are just going to keep trying to take my money!!
