I was in need of a 12,000lb 2-post lift. I purchased the lift through autozone and paid cash rather than leasing. The lift came in and we installed it per the instructions. We have installed many lifts previously so nothing new for us.
We got the lift installed and the arms would not extend. Called Greg Smith and tech told us to bang the legs on the floor, sometime they get welding slag between moving parts and causes them to bind up. Ok so we did.
After about 2 weeks the cylinders started leaking. Call Greg Smith again and they needed pictures. Sent pics and they informed me to use teflon tape on fitting. I informed them we did per the instructions. They then old me to pull cylinders and use 100% silicone. That worked for a short period of time and started leaking again. Call autozone to discuss our frustrations and two more cylinders were shipped to us. We installed them and they leaked worse than the last ones.
This has been going on for over 3 years now with documentation after documentation and 4 cylinders later it still leaks. I got another cylinder a few months back but wa as told that was the last cylinder, they had been discontinued.
Now i have a rack that leaks at least a qt of fluid a day withno repair available.
I complained and complained to my autozone commercial rep untill he just would not return my calls and would not come by anymore.
I got a new rep now. He has been working on situation but so far they tell me they can sell me another lift at cost. I have already paid for a lift and it should give years of service.
Its A great feeling when your lift drops 2 to 3 inches at a time while working on a car under it. I asked the autozone rep if he wanted to stand under the car while I do an o ok l change just to experience the excitment. He declined.
Bought a TC289 tire changer off Greg Smith Equipment, couldn't be happier with it. Thing is a beast. Must have mounted and dismounted 100 tires in the first 2 weeks alone and works prefect. Actually works as good as any Coats or Hunter machine i have used in my professional automotive career.
