A person named Joyce Miles with Greenstone Payments visited my business and asked to give me a quote for my merchant service account. In looking at my monthly merchant statement she said she would be able to cut my cost in half.
She said, Greenstone charges a flat 1% of sales plus a $35.00 monthly fee. This would indeed save me 1/2 of what I'm paying now. She said if I wasn't happy after 30 days I could cancel my contract and I could resume my present provider. I signed the contract.
She also sold me on the fact that she could provide the system (software) to integrate with QuickBooks with no setup fees. Also, told me that I will be able to have the merchant account on my Iphone6 for just $25 fee to get the Iphone swiper.
Without going into every detail - I will cut to the chase. It took Greenstone payments 45 day's to get my merchant account signed up with QB. They tried to charge me a $75 fee, I refused. Through the entire process the people at Greenstone had horrible follow though (non-existent). It really seemed like I was dealing with a rinky dink operation out of their home. Their emails did not come from an associated Greenstone payments email. They use Yahoo email accounts and do not have email signature with contact info, phone numbers, etc. When I started documenting all conversations with them most employees could not quickly answer their names, most only gave a first.
After 45day's we finally got both the QB merchant and the Iphone accounts working. You have to remember I was chasing the dream that I was going to cut my merchant fees in 1/2! I wanted this deal to work out and I had to put in allot of effort, even though all my instincts were telling me this company was not legit. One month later I received my first statement. I was in disbelief and but not really, I was kind of already suspecting that I had been sold a bag of crap!
My first statement only had $1100.00 in gross sales, 2 Visa card processes. The total fee's were $108.00, of that $25 was a one time fee and $23.00 was a monthly minimum. So $60.00 dollars in total credit card fees. Yes, Greenstone charged their 1%, but then there were all of the card interstate fees and other per transaction fees. So I paid more than double the rate from my previous merchant account, nearly 6% in fee's on my first month.
I immediately called and got verification from Ipayment services and they verified all of the fee's and total percentages. I was stuck. I called Greenstone payments and told them I wanted to cancel my business with them, that they grossly mis-represented their merchant fee's and LIED to me to get my business. The person at Greenstone (Tracey) - LOL pleaded and asked me to give her an opportunity to get my rates lowered. I said to her.... You mean the rates that I was promised in the beginning? and she said yes. She would call me back in 24 hours, the following day. That day came and went, no call! I waited another 2 business days and called Greenstone back, talked with an Ashley - LOL. Long story short, Greenstone was going to make the cancellation process has hard as it was getting going in the beginning.
I signed a 3 year agreement, $350.00 cancellation fee to get out within this period. I had to go direct to IPayment and get one of their managers to over-ride the process Greenstone would take. You have to remember re-sellers like Greenstone Payments and/or Highland Payments, Inc. want to stay on the good gracious with the providers like Ipayment and Charge Anywhere.
Do not do business with Greenstone Payments or Highland Payments Inc. Do your research and go direct to the merchant sources. You can sign up directly with highly rated and reputable companies like: Authorize.net, First National Bank and TSYS, IPayment, Charge Anywhere, etc. You do not need to go through someone that cold calls you and say's they will be in your area and would like to show you a significant reduction in rates! It's BS! Don’t fall for this tactic like I did. Especially, do not fall for fake rates from a person named Joyce Miles of Greenstone Payments. This person does not exist! Try goggling that name...No one from Greenstone Payments is even on Linked In. Take it from me. RUN from these low lifers! Do your due diligence, look these people up before signing anything. Better yet, just go direct to the merchant sources and save yourself allot of stress, hassle and mostly, money!
Tim Boyd with Greenstone visited my store and asked to give me a quote for my merchant service account. In looking at my monthly merchant statement he said he would be able to cut my cost in half.
He said his company, Greenstone (associated with Tsys and First Data) charged a flat 1% of sales plus $134.99 which is cover their actual cost. This would indeed save me 1/2 of what I'm paying now. He said if I wasn't happy after 30 days he would cancel my contract and I could resume my present provider.
Stupidly, I signed the contract and was not given one. Immediately after he left I realized he didn't give me a copy and I called him to return and give me a copy. The following day I received the contract and asked Tim to explain the 1% cost plus and again he said it was 1% of the sale amount. I was on speaker phone with 2 people listening to verify his explanation.
I called him the next day and told him I was recording the conversation and he was outraged that I didn't trust him, however, his explanation this time was totally different than the previous day.
I then found out that the $134.99 was actually for the lease purchase of the equipment, over a 3 year period. This is a $400 piece of equipment which cost less than $500. Do the math. They hit my checking account for July for $209.45 not the $134.99. The only way to stop this is to close my account.
If they call on you, kick them out of your office.
