Before making the appt asked if they did root canals since this is what my 11yr old needed. Made the appt and she was seen by a dentist that said she could do the root canal but that she was new (I didn't know if this mean't new to the practice or just out of school. After reading reveiws on another site It leads me to believe she was right out of school). She said it would take about two hours. We went ahead and made the appt. When we brought her in the dentist said maybe she didn't need a root canal and that she could probably save the tooth by putting on a double filling. Within two weeks of doing this she developed a large abscess on her tooth. We called the dental office at about 6:00pm and was told by the answering service that the dentist on call would call us. Two hours later we hadn't heard anything so we took her to the emergency room where she was given a prescription for an antibotic. When we arrived home we stil hadn't received a call from the dentist.
The next day we took her back to the Brandon office and was told by a different dentist Dr. Van that they don't do root canals at that office and that we would have to take her to the South Tampa office to see the endodontist. We made an appt and after seeing the assistant was given a form to fill out authorizing the procedure for 700.00 paid by the insurance company, two minutes later the endodontist came in and said the root canal was off the table because the infection was raging thru her system and caused the bone to be eaten away. This was exaberated by the double filling that was put in. She said we would have to find an oral surgeon to take out the tooth. She then sent us on our way with no prescription or what to do. I was so angry I went back to the original location on Brandon Blvd where the office manager? had the audacity to give me the customer service number. I was not happy so someone who said they were the hr/training manager asked to speak to me in the back. Nothing was resolved. When I returned home Wanda who operates the customer service line called and said the only thing she can do for me is to schedule an appt in Orlando with an oral surgeon since they don't have one in the area although they advertise they do. I told her that I am not going to drive an hour and half and than back again with a child that has just had their tooth extracted. She said that is all she can do for me. No acknowledgement on the malpractice on their side. The abscess is still there. She is in pain and I can't find an oral surgeon who takes are insurance. Do not go here. They hire people right out of school good or bad.
