This is about Grameen Foundation USA's activity in India, Grameen Foundation is operating a fully owned subsidiary in India using philanthropic money and US tax payers money, the activities they are engaging are guided by their mission to defeat poverty, some of the areas where they interfere is sending health alerts through mobile phone, supporting Microfinance with capital and unnecessary technical support.
My contention is why do we need Grameen to do this in India at the cost of US taxpayers money, i am sensitive to humaneritian concerns, but if you look at some of the problems they are solving more closely without reading some of their blogs and self aggrandising propanganda , it is very self evident that they are doing very mediocre stuff which any second rate indian do gooder can do.
now the question is what does it mean , there are many entities that exist that does not contribute any thing to the real economy but merrily subsist based on vacant talks and blabber, why single out Grameen Foundation, this organisation employees at least 10 employees directly and indirectly, pays them good money for which there is no output in real wage terms, contributing to the accompanying bugger value of such vacant employees to the host country's economy and the attendant inflation. Apart from that there reams and reams of meaningless report authored by appointing consultants and mercenaries which aid to nothing but more confusion and taking moral upper ground by saying , this could have been done or it should have been this way after the event has happened , leading to wasted efforts due to a reactive and passive style of knowledge worker type pseudo -intellectual efforts.
Hitting back at the basic question do we need Grameen Foundation to do these nonsense work in India, create a cotrie of activist who join no effort but specialise in sitting on the fence and jumping where the tide is low, to win brownie points for white bosses to travel first class to excusitive locales at US taxpayers money. Which is euphemistically referred to as Philanthrophy to defeat poverty, actually employees are the ones who are dragging themselves in the riches, who cares about the real poor.
if some one needs to verify whatever is said, just ask them to submit the total expense per month and the total revenue earned through operation in India, I am sure it would be a deficit, question is why try to sell something which does not sell In the name of philanthropy, this is sheer hipocracy.
