The first experience I had with this company, they were advertising a free coloring book. After you place the order, they put you through a seemingly endless list of offers, none of which I remember as ever listing a price. The offer is to try the products for free. I clicked on some I found interesting, then after ordering, I realized I was going to be charged, so I immediately called and asked that all items expect the coloring book be deleted from my order. They still sent all the products anyway.
I was in the process of returning the items when they staarted charging my account and I found out they were even charging me a subscription charge, which I certainly had never agreed to. I called and "pitched a fit" and eventually they agreed to refund all my money, including shipping, since I had called to cancel the order. I finally did get a refund.
Hoping it was just a miscommunication, I received another offer, this time for a book. I made sure to click that I did not want to receive any of the other items they were offering, but received additional items in my order anyway. I was billed $18.79. I called again and complained. I had to pay to return the items and expected a refund of all the money for them. They said they could not return the shipping and handling charges of $11.85, even though that was the shipping and handling on items I did not order. I ended up being out the $18.79 plus the money I spent to ship the unordered items back.
Beware! I will make sure to avoid this company again at all costs. However, they are sneaky. They don't identify themselves on any of the packing slips, etc. by company name. There is no company name on the invoice. They have multiple addresses and phone numbers, and don't give an email or fax number. I was told to address the returned items to "Shopmax". On the website the only names I saw were "Gourmet Cooking" and "Old West Books".
I ordered some herb seeds from this Company for $3.95. They offered several add-ons at $1.00 each which I also ordered. The total order was $15.00 plus free shipping. When my products arrived, there wasn't any order receipt of any kind in the box. My credit card has now been charged a $57.00 installment charge of a $250.00 order, for seeds. I contacted the company and am shipping all items back tomorrow. Thankfully, I have never opened any of the seed packets. I have read numerous reports of complaints from this Company. Total Scammers. I now have to dispute this charge with my credit union. I hope someone shuts them down.
Just before Christmas, Dec 16, I received an email that said, "We thought you'd like to know that we shipped your items, and that this completes your order." The enclosed letter says: "You will find enclosed your order carefully packaged and given the special care it deserves". I wondered where this stuff had come from, or how I had gotten it. It seemed to me that I probably got someone else's order, as I would never have ordered this box of "junkie useless tools". The contents were: An electronic kitchen scale; BBQ digital thermometer fork; Digital Infared thermometer; Glass Mortar & Pestal; Pesto recipes - a cheap paperback book with no photos. When I called yesterday to inquire about this, after a 20 minute wait to have someone actually take my call, the lady says, "these are the things you ordered". My credit card was charged $38.46 for S/H, and I was due to pay $168.31. After trying to make sense of this, I got more angry with the whole situation, and asked to speak with a supervisor or manager, with the response, "I am that person", but put me on hold to consult with someone. After continued discussion, I told the gal I was sending the box back and I wanted a total refund. She said, "after receiving the box, I would be credited $8.00". At that point, I printed out a return postage label, and called my credit card company to place a complaint. They happily complied. This morning, I received a phone call from someone at the company trying to make things right and that I would receive a full reimbursement, after the box is returned. When I see the results on my credit statement, I will inform VISA. Do Not Buy or sign up for this fradulent scam company!
Gourmet Cooking working debit card for $9.95 every few days. Made one legit purchase and they have sent me unordered goods and worked my debit card. Bank will shut down this debit card number today.
I ordered a coloring book for 3.95 but instead received meat rubs. They are billing me 9.95 per month for 6 months. Sounds like bait and switch to me. I used my debit card so they have access to the number.
I ordered a Gourmet Cooking Seal n Fresh Vacuum from this company and if I did not like it they said 30 Day Money Back Guarantee! The vacuum was broken, never worked and it cost me 6.$ to return it. The original price was 19.95 and a month later after receiving it the credited me $10.00 and called it shipping and handling fees. Be warned with this company, when I called them to ask why a partial credit the lady was rude and said it was all I get back for the return.
The topic and service does not really reflect that this company sells cooking supplies and products, such as, spices, kitchen tools, herb capsules, cutting boards, cookbooks etc. [These items could have been purchased at Big Lots or Wal-Mart for around $60.] The price that is printed on the Internet is not the price I was charged. When I called them after the first charge, they told me I owed $300+ more. I was shocked beyond belief. I called the company and demanded to know how this unreasonable charge happened. She said I must have missed the fine print that stated there would be additional charges. I asked her to email me a copy of their orders with the small print or tell me what website to use to see this for myself. She gave me kitchenadvance.com which is a no reply website, so I called back and asked to speak to a supervisor and they readily agreed to take some charges off my credit card. I still ended up, to this date, paying $245.91 for about $60 worth of product. This site is a definite scam and once they get your credit card, they just keep charging. If I get a charge on this next card, I am going to get my credit card company involved. Something needs to be done to keep these scams from happening. It has definitely made me leary of ordering off the Internet unless I am familiar with the company or have checked to see if the company has any complaints. I was definitely ripped off.
