On June 1,2012,I took my Honda motorcycle to Glass City cycles to have it restored(bike is a 1981 CB650 custom 4 cylinder)
.Met Shaun Gotha, the owner of the shop and we decided what would be involved with the repairs.
Since he was short on money,I trusted him and gave him $1000 cash.I also furnished parts and shop manuals to help him with the repair.I expected to ride the bike later that summer but his mechanic quit and another one was hired.
This took over a year and the new mechanic couldn't get the bike running properly.I invested more money in parts and gave them to Shaun. He kept making excuses and we were in the second year, and the bike was in many pieces. One of his mechanics dropped the gas tank and dented it badly.
Shaun said the bike needed all four carburetors and found a set of used ones. Before I bought the motorcycle,I rode it and it ran well, except it was necessary to keep the choke pulled out for it to run correctly and it had a small oil leak at the head gasket on one of the cylinders.
I went back to check on the progress and discovered that Shaun had sold the shop and took my bike with him.I saw him in a local restaurant and told him I wanted my bike back.He gave me some excuses and furnished his address and phone number. The address he gave me is an empty duplex and he doesn't return my calls.
I have kept the insurance in force and have registered it each year and I guess I will have to report the bike as stolen. This will no doubt raise my insurance rates, bit I don't know what else to do.On june1st of this year,it was three years that he's had my Honda.I trusted him way too much and hope nobody else makes the same mistake.
The insurance company told me to make a police report and they will get involved.I hate to do it but I want my motorcycle back.I will also get a local call for action tv station invlved and the better business bureau. At one time ,Shaun told me he buys bikes and ships them overseas. hope that's not what happened to my bike.
