We were told in December 2014 that we could get out of Geo Holidays membership by paying $2000.We did pay well before December 31st, but they won't cancel until we pay additional $500 membership dues for 2015!

When I called about this, the rep said rudely that it's the rule (whose rule? theirs I guess). I asked what I would gain by giving 2015 membership dues and the answer was that I could use it for a few months - not even the whole year. Use it for what?

Another $500 down the drain...Anyone else with this problem?

Usually none of the places we want are available for the dates we want. We have been members for over 14 years and lost well over $18,000. Have not used their weeks or points more than once.

My husband and I received a telemarketing call in 2007. I would always hang up, he did not. Woe to us, we agreed to a timeshare presentation which entitled us to a free dinner for two and free cruise tickets. The cruise tickets were not free, as it turned out later we discovered you had to send in a processing fee and then pay port fees, which totalled as much as just buying cruise yourself. The only thing we got after spending well over $ 10,000 was a $25 card, which bought us lunch.

Wow, did we think we had lucked out. We had prepaid vacations, and frequent flyer miles. The only thing that worked was for GEoHoliday, they got their upfront money. I feel so stupid, what was I thinking? High pressure sales combined with wanting to believe, and we were in. I wanted to leave and think about it, and then the salesman called in his supervisor to finish hooking us. We should have walked away to talk it over. Big mistake, never, never make a major financial decision on the spot. Especially if the deal is only on the table right then.

The only good vacation was the first one. After that, things changed. Geoholiday helps you with your first vacation. After the first time, it is a scramble to find something available that will fit your schedule. Also, the salesman lied. There are no timeshares on any cruise lines. You cannot resell your timeshare. Geoholiday willnot buy back timeshare.

If time share is so valuable, why will they not buy back their own product? The things that make you go hmmm?

There is a good blog online about Geoholiday scam, researched by a lawyer.

How are timeshares even legal? Great huge ripoff.

Good luck getting a call back. I have emailed, left message, etc etc to no avail We were cheated out of 5,000 points this year alone. They will give us points back next year, and that means another maintenance fee. The maintenance fees rise every year, no rhyme or reason. The only financial reports are projected expenses, which are not worth the paper on which they are printed.

Stay away from Geoholiday, Starpoint Resorts, etc.

I'm 100% disabled veteran. We were at Wet N' Wild when we were approached by a saleswoman named Tina from Geo Holiday (white, large build, 40s, short dark hair, large tattoo on right upper arm). I spun a wheel and then went over to talk to her. I usually avoid these things because it's a common rumor that they're a scam.

She told me that she was going to give us 3 nights in California plus tickets to one of the theme parks, three nights in Hawaii and she gave us a bunch of "free" (fine print requires drink purchase and / or box office fees) for shows around town.

I told her I was a veteran and that we were both born and raised here. I told her that our combined monthly income didn't meet the requirement, but she told me it didn't matter, "because they don't check it."

I asked her what the "catches" were in regards to the "mini-vacations" as she called them and she told me there were none. She told me there were no blackout dates and we could use them anytime. The only "catch" she said was we had to, "go sit through some boring ass seminar for 90-minutes ... just say no to everything ... then at the end they would give us our "gifts"' I also had to give her a $20 deposit.

We couldn't make our first scheduled seminar as I was sick. Didn't make the second one because of a family emergency. Then she calls and offers us $100 restaurant gift card on top of the two mini-vacations. Didn't make the third one because I was sick again.

When we finally did go, they really don't verify your income. The beginning of the seminar is stress-free. At the end, when they want to sell their product ... well, this is when the high pressure sale tatics come in to play.

After we said no to our "guide" her manager came over and offered the package to us for HALF the price. After we said not to him, his manager came over and offered it to us for half of the already offered half off price!

When they realized we weren't going to buy it their attitudes did a 180 ... they went from nice and caring to rude and cold. They brought us to the checkout room. Tina left off the 3-day stay Hawaii mini-vacation and we left with the voucher for the California trip along with the gift card.

It took us four days to reach Tina about the Hawaii trip. Prior to us attending the seminar she would answer our phone calls / texts almost instantaneously. We called her from my phone and she didn't answer. 30 minutes later she I called her from a friend's phone and she answered immediately. She said she was out of town and would contact when she got back; that was two weeks ago.

When we read the fine print for the California voucher there were so many things we had to do. First we had to fill it out and send it in and wait about 60 days for a response. Once we received the response we had to do something else. Then after that we had to do another thing. Then, after all of that was completely we had to request dates within a 30 day window and IF they could accommodate it they would ... and it wouldn't have been free like Tina said, because of taxes and hotel fees.

and the $100 restaurant gift card? That was a lie too ... we can't just go use it "at any restaurant in Vegas" like she said. First we have to go through this long process (just like the California vacation) and then we "may" be able to use it at a very limited listing of restaurants if they can accommodate.
