$15,000 ripoff. Garth Mckeown, also uses the names Garth the Plumber and Garth's Plumbing. He required money up front "to pay for materials". I had a small leak in piece of copper pipe. Garth Mckeown told me that nearly 300 feet of pipe and a sewer line needed to be replaaced. and stated "There are leaks all over the place".
Garth Mckeown started with a low bid to me, got the money then came up with false claims of additional work needed so he could guarantee the job for life. The bid went up over 5 times the original bid.
Garth Mckeown did not even complete the job then lied and stated emphaitically that the job was all done. About all he did was wrap old pipes with insulation. Most of the pipes were underground and under the building so it was hard to verify.
Three inspectors later told me he did not replace any pipes which he (Garth Mckeown) claimed he did. And actually those pipes were in fair to good condition and didn't even need to be replaced.
Garth Mckeown showed me a photo of a license on his cell phone. I was later informed that Garth Mckeown was given a citation and fined by the California State Contractors board for claiming he had a valid license. His license was revoked and I was informed he cannot renew it.
He does snot answer his phone and has disappeared.
