After visiting DR. Dryke's office several times for consultation, occlusal adjustment, and dental cleaning with check up I felt safe to have her do my smile makeover. She was super, nice articulate, and accomodating. Until she started the procedure. She never asked me what color I wanted my teeth or how I wanted them to look before she cut my teeth.
We agreed on fixing teeth 6-11 and she stated tooth 19 needed a crown immediately.
This complaint goes beyond the part of me being bullied into accepting restorations I was not happy with. Examinations of the first set proposed to seat, left me discourage, because they were not anything I had asked for. The second set, although much smaller, we're not any better, but Dr. Dryke used these specific terms when rebutling my every complaint at the second try in for teeth 6-11; "That is an optical illusion." "It is not crooked." "You will not get anything more perfect than these teeth." "This is what you asked for." Listening to the next patient wait for the doctor, I sat down and stated, "This is what two want me to do," and the final teeth were seated while tears steamed down my cheek. What a horrific mistake on my part. Why aren't Cosmetic Dentists required to uphold the highest standards in customer satisfaction? Answer: Because there are no rules! I now have to live with speech impairment and teeth that someone else decided were perfect for me.
My next complaint; I am under the understanding that most of my teeth had what I would like to call lying x-rays; good fillings presenting as cavities on an x-ray. My prior dentist that I had for 7 or more years made me aware of it in the beginning of our dental relationship, but it was never made a big deal, as he continued to watch for changes in the x-rays. Dr. Dryke informed me that all of my restorations were leaking and that eventually my teeth would break off. During her evaluation she said tooth 19 needed an immediate crown as well as build up for the crown. However, the procedure for this so called "build up" took all together less than a minute. Performing unnecessary procedures is assault? I paid out of my own pocket for my dental care. No insurance. But, even if I had insurance, this build up would not have been paid for, because it was not necessary! An extra $271 later, it makes me wonder what on the X-ray convinced her the tooth even need the quick attention, considering other teeth had the same types of fillings.
UPDATE: Concerning crown on 19. After another dentist advised me that my bite was off concerning this tooth, I went back to Dr. Dryke's office to have it adjusted. Twice. The second time she told me it was good and never made an adjustment. I am still having problems with this tooth knocking other teeth as I am speaking. Earlier this week I called her office to make an appointment for another adjustment, but I was told it will cost over $100. She stated I was only allowed three free adjustments in 3 months, in which, previously I was never informed. LIAR!
As for the other teeth that I had treated in her office, she also stated these teeth would need build ups as well. I ended up with 2 veneers and 4 more crowns without any build ups. Before the procedure, I asked Dr. Dryke to only do veneersif my fillings weren't as bad as she thought. After the procedure, she informed me she did crowns on 6,7,10, and 11, because that is just how they do it.
After prepping all of my teeth for my "smile makeover", Dr. Dryke's caring, honest, devoted attitude changed into a number of lies and insensitivities. Lies like, "If you don't want added thickness, do veneers," "The lab decides how to place your center line according to rest of the anatomy of your mouth." Along with several other untruthful opinions, Dr. Dryke offered me both of these statements. Later on and during the process, I find that both of these ideas are not true.
Consequently, my unhappiness due to the outcome of my veneers and crowns she has offered me a partial refund if I continue as her client. Even though she wants someone else to do the redo. What? Is this so she can decide the rest of my teeth need to be crowned? Is it just so I leave her office and I break the terms of the agreement? Buyer beware when patronizing this office! Her opinion seems to only benefit her.
