Hello Mr Mayor,
I was pulled over for speeding 15 over on busy East River Rd. Officer Steiger was the officer. This was my FIRST speeding in FOUR years. Regardless, Officer Steiger, after my full cooperation, readiness to assist him with the information he requested, found it necessary to give me a citation. Regardless, I exercised my options as a female working at the Court House said I could some in on 10-1-14 and speak with the prosecutor, Mr. Greg Herrick. After flexing my work schedule, taking time off, I am a Health and Fitness Industry professional in Minneapolis, MN, have been for 2 years, live in north metro. I come to court. I sign in, wait for over 1.5 hrs, then get my chance to speak with Mr. Herrick. I present to Mr. Herrick that my LAST moving violation was 8-31-10 . I first say I apologize, I was speeding and I was asking to pay the fine or more, just to NOT have it on my record. Immediately Mr. Herrick shakes his head and says he cannot. He cites my previous record, back to 1995! I shared it had been FOUR years since I had a ticket, and I was a young man in 1995. I am 36 years old now, so 1995 was my senior year of high school!
Furthermore, Greg shares that the city of Fridley are sticklers and want their tickets. I've called Greg FOUR times, leaving voicemails each time. No response. I was inquiring clarity on his language if it's convictions, money, or what exactly the city of Fridley wants. If it's money, I'd pay double the ticket to keep it off my record. Greg said Fridley wants their whatever, convictions, money, etc. I asked "do they have to get what they want?" Greg laughed and said they are his boss. Bottom line, this was a waste of my time. To have the perception that talking with a prosecutor is worth time when he shares Fridley always gets their tickets collected on and convictions, is misleading and frustrating. I believe better transparency would serve the people of Anoka county, our neighbors, better. The fact that Greg cannot even return my calls is troubling. The fact that Steiger cannot issue a pass on a 15 over violation, on BUSY east river rd, keeping up with traffic, is troubling. What is going on with Fridley Police? I could have been a jerk, uncooperative to Steiger, made his job very difficult. I do the opposite and am shown no leniency? What is going on here?
Regardless, I am sorry to trouble you with this silly matter. Things could have been difference if Steiger could have shown some understanding based on my record. If Greg could show some understanding and give me some explanation based on my flawless record in the past FOUR years, 2010. Instead I trouble you. Thank you for your time. I would appreciate Greg being spoken to about his handling of this matter, his nonchalant attitude and saying how he basically must do what he says Fridley wants, instead of the right thing. And Steiger could be briefed on how if one has a clean record in recent years, four years, to perhaps have a little understanding and not ticket a man going to work, doing his part to positively contribute to society. I understand keeping the roads safe. I do not believe that a little fast is always unsafe.

PS- Officer Steiger, get a clue. No need to be a d*** and ticket a hard-working man enroute to work, moving with the flow of traffic on a busy road. You have taught me to NEVER cooperate with a pig. Invoke the 5th, ask if I am being detained, and make your job difficult. That's what I learned. What did I gain by promptly giving you my license, insurance, and polite, prompt answers to your stupid questions? A ticket. I will NEVER be cooperative with an "officer" again. Cops like you are thugs, losers, kids grown up that were picked on in school and now taking it out on your neighbors. You made my life complicated, expensive and I lost money taking work off to deal with Greg's dumb a**. You and bad cops like you will NEVER receive my respect or cooperation. Nice work. ;)
Prosecutor Gerg Herrick- wipe that smug grin off your face, grow a pair, and work WITH the people, do the RIGHT thing and don't be a sellout. Serve and protect? Hardly. You are exemplary of what is disgusting and unbelievable with the legal system. You must be a miserable person. Good luck in life.
Mayor Lund- Get back to people who email you. Not sure what is so difficult with that? I certainly didn't vote for you. Monitor your public servants a little better. There are bigger fish to fry other than 9 to 5ers going to work. This is America. People like myself are hard-working, no criminal record, and in no need of creeps like Steiger and Herrick running amok.
