Fox Hill Apt, Golden, CO management "Trainee" Laura took our application fees and $300 deposit (personal check) on 6/19/2014 at about 6 PM and then advised us she had already rented the immediately available 2/2 apt. Then she stated "not to worry about the security deposit check as nothing would be done with it for seven (7) days and that way we can simply return it to you." The 2/2 directly above our promised unit "would be available on 6/1/2014" so we agreed to rent a Uhaul for one day's storage and awaited her approval. The next day Laura called to advise our "poor credit would require an additional $300 deposit" for approval and that the apt would NOT be available until at least 6/8/2014. We explained that that would NOT work and we would be by to collect our $300. We were never approved and the agreement gave us "72 hours from the time of approval" to collect our deposit in person. Additionally, the deposit was in violation of the written requirement of "No Personal Checks" as stated in print, but again "no problem." We again said, "no thanks." An hour later, Barbara (Apt Manager) call us to advise that "another apt had come available for a 6/1/2014 move-in." Smelling a "Bait & Switch" and previous deceptions, I check my bank acct to discover my checks had been electronically deposited 48 hour after we handed it to Laura on 6/19/2014 (not in any way compliant with the written agreement) and well within the verbal instructions of 7 days from "acceptance." Three adults have attempted to recover our funds for the past week with continuous excusses of unavailablity, no communication and closure of the office. Barbara called and texted the regional manager (Maureen) whom I had met on 6/19/2014 while she adopted a Masiff (huge dog) at the Fox Hill office. Numerous emails and phone calls to Fox Hill and Monarch Investment Group (owner) have gotten No Reply. Direct meetings were also met with "sorry, I'll have to confirm with Laura what she agreed to." Laura and Barbara live in the Fox Hill Apts! Laura is moving to Omaha, NE. Beware Omaha! Do Not do business with Fox Hill Apts, nor it's Owner, Monarch Investment Group as this is a deceptive company that prays on Veterans on Memorial Day and cheats School of Mines students. Will advise BBB, Colorado School of Mines Housing Dept., YELP, Golden Chamber of Commerce, VA, Facebook and protest in person if not repayed $300 deposit and I get a written apology for stealing our money!
