Although it was announced by Mike Davis, Ford's parts and service public affairs representative. "...as a dealership guarantee which provides that once customers have paid for a repair, they will never have to pay for the same repair again as long as they own the vehicle. Ford Motor Company guarantees the parts, and various participating dealers guarantee labor. The guarantee covers engine, transmission and other power train components, cooling and electrical systems, steering and suspension, and factory installed options and dealer accessories..." http://www.automotive-fleet.com/.../ford-s-lifetime...
And, further on Nov 4, 2013 FordMotor Co.'s Frederiek Toney announced that not only is Ford to "strengthen and lengthen" it's "LIFETIME GUARANTEE" on ALL repairs, he also confirmed "...[Ford will coverl]...The towing bill if a part under warranty fails and the customer has the vehicle towed to a Ford or Lincoln dealership for repairs" http://www.autonews.com/.../ford-strengthens-lengthens...#
That's obviously a BLATANT LIE as Ford do not do either of their claims as proved below:
1. On November 10, 2014, I took my F450 King Ranch Dually with 105,000 miles to 2 different mechanics who gave us a $380 and a $400 quote respectively to fix a bracket holding the exhaust. As they were booked out for weeks coming into Christmas, I took it to Parks Ford of Gainesville, Florida. They also quoted an identical amount: $380 quote with a 3-4 hour turn around time.
2. Late on the same day Ford rang me right in the middle of a Board Meeting/Teleconference in New York, but as I am the President of the Society, I had everyone hold while I spoke to Ford in case they wanted us to collect it right then. Witnessed by the 12 Board Members on speaker Ford apologized profusely, saying they had accidentally broken some bolts, they were very very sorry (admitting guilt in front of all those witnesses).
3. The damage Ford did then cost me 1,000% higher that the quote, coming out at $3,800. We appealed to Ford in writing and verbally reminding them that THEY are at fault quite obviously having admitted it in front of 12 witnesses. They would not even reduce the account one cent, in fact when I spoke to their Manager, very politely asking for him for a reduction, he blatantly said no. We then discussed selling the vehicle, and they tried to get us into a little old broken down 20 year old Corolla and a busted up filthy old little truck instead. We said no that wasn't what we wanted, and that was it...the Manager turned so nasty when we were not going to purchase his broken down old truck and corolla. He was so rude it honestly and truly shocked me. To speak to a little old lady just out of breast cancer and a double mastectomy like that is just shameful.
4. Ford Gainesville arranged a hire car for us and verbally contracted to pay for the Enterprise Hire Car - in front of 4 witnesses including Enterprise - and then refused to pay for it at all - breaking our legal contract.
5. We had no choice but to pay the car rental and Ford bill UNDER WRITTEN PROTEST.
6. We drive 15 miles down the road and the whole car blows up spewing oil all over the truck up the windows and windshield, the entire truck covered in oil on the right hand side (see pictures on my facebook page).
7. We rang them straight back, the man was so rude and point blank refused to pay for towing back to their dealership.
8. Ford Gainesville then refuse to repair the repair they never got right in the first place - despite the announced "LIFETIME GUARANTEE" mentioned in the above article. That is when they were caught on camera, the video now gone viral, saying "Ford do not guarantee any repairs at all"
9. We wait a week, and wait another week and after looking at our phone audit trail, we find we have rung Ford twenty seven times, and they would NEVER return a phone call. We had to email them in the end as they simply refused to pick up the phone and tell us what was happening with the truck!
10. Now SIX WEEKS after their original repair and we have had a hire car the entire time, they finally said they won't repair the truck no matter even if we paid for the repair, they just won't look at it at all.
11. They then broke a 2nd verbal contract with us with Enterprise to pay for the second hire car - again that's totally illegal
12. On the last day that I went into the dealership, now SIX WEEKS after they took our truck. I was very polite in the beginning simply asking them to repair our truck. When the Manager and Richard Clay then saw I was serious....they turned instantly nasty. They were so rude by now I'm in tears. I got very loud and told them that they had broken the law, they were in violation of several different statutes, and that I am reporting them to BBB, Angie's List, every dealership review and on my millions of website hits and facebook fans unless they did what they promised to do in the first place. Instead of taking me into an office, sitting me down, asking if I was OK (they know I am just out of breast cancer and double mastectomy) getting me a glass of water in the heat of Florida, and saying "well here's what we can do for you..." they phoned the Police on a little old lady with breast cancer - simply because they didn't want to guarantee the repair that broke and would not fix our truck - even if I paid a second time for the same repair.
But imagine their surprise when the Police arrive saying "Hi Colleen great to see you, what happened to you here? Little did Ford know that I teach most of the Mounted Police Units in the United States! In fact last year I received an award from the Queen of England for my service to Police Mounted Units). The Head of the Swat team said, IN FRONT OF FORD CLIENTS AND QUITE LOUDLY "well what do you expect - they're car dealers". And, then hey "here, I'll look up a decent mechanic for you". He looked it up on his phone, and then copying me the number saying "this guy's in Ocala. We don't get our Police vehicles serviced here ever - we take them all the way to Ocala to a HONEST dealer"
(Subsequently find out that even the Levy County Sheriff has sued Ford for the cruises exploding into flames - guess the Police are not too impressed with Ford with what is it FIVE OFFICERS DEAD????)
How embarrassing for Ford - and he said it deliberately so loud that their clients heard!!!!
13. Now TWO MONTHS after they originally took the truck we had to finally give up and pay for a tow truck to another Ford Dealer in St. Augustine. Of course they would not pay for that towing. Now we have to pay fully - again - for exactly the same repair they never got right in the first place.
14. The final straw. Yesterday the tow truck arrives and they have either "lost" the keys, or refuse to hand them over, in a final act of vengeance on a little old lady I now have to buy new electronic keys. This is horrendous treatment after all the money we have paid.
