I bought six gouldian finches from fly babies aviary back in March of 2014 and four of the six finches purchased have been chronically ill! One of the four sick birds passed away shortly after receiving It. They have been sick with chronic diarrhea, beak problems, eye problems and one was sent to me with splayed legs. I contacted Allen immediately to make him aware of the situation and was told they would not do anything about the birds that were sent to me. He stated that the birds were in perfect health when he sent them. When I asked about the finch with the splayed legs, he wasn't even aware of what that was and said he had to check with his "finch expert"! I was told it wasn't a genetic problem and that the finch should be fine. This particular finch has a very hard time perching properly and her feet often slip out from underneath her. Two of the finches have chronic diarrhea and have tried and done everything to correct it with no avail.
When I made Allen aware of the diarrhea problem, I was told to purchase Ronex and begin treatment on the birds Which made no difference in the diarrhea at all. One of the two passed away not long after receiving it!
I feel as a customer, that I was NOT taken care of! I spent $1300 for these birds and have had to put countless other money into them to try to improve their health which has not changed! A good breeder would stand behind their work and if a sick animal was purchased from them, would do what ever it took to rectify the problem to uphold their reputation!

On November 2, 2014, I contacted Fly Babies through birdsnow.com, about a purchasing a specific bird. The owner said she was available. Through a series of emails and phone calls, I decided I would purchase her. I sent a money order to which the owner received and cashed. We continued emailing back and forth for a period totaling three weeks before the bird arrived. During this time, I made several requests about the care of the bird, sometimes reiterating the specific bird I was requesting, and her likes and comforts, all to which he sometimes did not answer or was very vague. The night before the bird arrived, I asked if he would please let me know when he was planning to send the bird so I could coordinate my schedule accordingly. He said he would. However, I received a phone call the next morning from the Post Office stating that my bird was there. (He did not notify me he sent the bird.
When I opened the package, it was the wrong bird. I immediately called and let him know there was some mistake. He asked that I email him the information. I did. His response was, in a nutshell, he no longer had the bird I wanted, too bad, hope I enjoy the one he sent. (I found out later that he actually did not have the bird I was ordering in the first place. A majority of the pictures he advertises as being the birds he is selling, are not of actual birds he owns, but professional photos he uses, falsely implying these are the birds he would be selling to the consumer.) When I contested the decision he made to substitute a bird without consulting me first , that no time in the three weeks of communication did he mention he no longer had the one I ordered and that he willfully took the money for an item which he could not produce, he still said "too bad." I have pointed out that there are no disclaimers on his website or facebook page that he has the right to substitute nor that he does not guarantee the product he "sold" to be the one that is received. I have tried resolving this issue a multiple of times to which he refuses to answer my emails or phone calls. I am very disappointed that this was an issue that the seller deceptively sold me a bird that he did not have in his possession. He took my money and did not send what I purchased. He does not have a disclaimer that he will make substitutions as he chooses, and has the right to continue with the purchase if he cannot produce the item he is selling. He completed a purchase under false pretenses.
In the past four weeks that I have been trying to get this problem resolved, I have come in contact with three other people who have had similarly bad experiences and to which only one did he partially resolve. (In my contact with these people, I have found out that he also apparently does not guarantee the sex of the bird because the babies he sells are too young to tell, even though he specifically advertises a certain gender. [i.e. The gender of the bird I ordered was listed as female, but according to the owner, even though he does not state anywhere on his web page or facebook page, he does not guarantee the gender. Again, false advertisement.])
I wholeheartedly believe Fly Babies is a farse. They are selling birds under pretenses and falsehoods. They are making claims which they can not back.
Found Fly Babies website and have been debating between 2 blue quakers. I asked for a photo of the bird I liked, (dark turquoise) was sent a photo of the lighter blue quaker. The Aviary is currently closed to the public so I asked to see photos of the 2 blue quakers side by side for comparison. After many vague emails with Alan all he would say is “I recommend the blue quaker” - nothing else. I said since I am paying up front ($900) I want to see pics of both birds to see which one I like better, he literally replied “sorry I can’t do that” (I am like 90% positive he only has the light blue quaker left based on his replies). This place seems very sketchy and is literally refusing to send me CURRENT pics of the birds I am interested in - these birds are expensive!! Not going to blindly give away almost $1,000 without seeing the animal.
I ordered a male dark blue indian ringneck parakeet hand fed …paid $800.00 up front....I had just lost my ringneck who was 40 yrs old...so I couldn't wait...they had a picture of him before I bought him with some lady named linda..playing with him...giving her kisses..etc...the instruction came by email..linda said have a soft cloth and open the box up in a small bathroom...the bird showed up a day and a half late..opened the box ...wrong bird..it was a very light creamy green blueish..that had never been hand raised...all it wanted to do is bite and get away..it would really bite hard...I emailed them..was told as he gets older he will get bluer....I read a lot of reviews after the fact and people seems to say the same thing...its not what I ordered...he won't get bluer but I hope he gets tamer..had it almost 2 weeks now...
Purchased a bird which had sinus infections for a long period of time before it was sent to me. Bird had distorted air inlet hole on its head from infections. Bird had been taken repeatedly to the veterinary for many months for severe sinus infection before the poor little thing thing died
I purchased a Parolet that was listed on the site, Alan stated that that one was not available and he had another. After 7 emails he would not send a photo of the actual bird I was going to get and stated that he had only 5 Parolets not the 30 or so shown on the website.
They do not have ANY of the birds listed on the site, those photos are from other places.
Took over 2 months and a threat for small claims court but finally received a refund.
Be very careful sending money for a bird in which you never know what you will receive.
This is my second order for gouldian finches from Fly Babies Aviary. All my birds arrived healthy and active. I have had my first two gouldians for about a year, there have been no health problems. My second bird arrived today, active and well adjusted. I highly recommend Fly Babies. I would do business with them again.
