This is a warning about a scam being done in North America right now. The individual(s) carrying out this scam is using the name of a small UK based company called "Floway Pipe Services Ltd." as a front for their activities. I first got in touch with this person going by the name of Paul Loxterkamp when I applied for a job with Floway Pipe Services. He put me through an interview online through yahoo messenger and said they wanted to hire me. I also received emails from somebody named Trena Harris who is supposedly in their HR department. I figured this was just a new way of getting a job in the internet age and thought nothing of it. My whole communication with these people are through Yahoo Messenger.
The scam truly begins when Paul says that they are sending cheques to new employees to purchase laptops, printers, scanners and other office equipment so we can start working from home. They send these fake cheques, about $2000. Alarm bells start to go off and right away I am starting to get suspicious. I report back to Paul and lie to him saying that I have deposited the cheques and am ready to purchase my laptop and other equipment. Paul says that we have to send the money by moneygram and gives all the details. This was the big giveaway that this was a scam. I contacted the real Floway Pipe Services Ltd in the UK and confirmed with them that they do not have any individuals by the name of Paul Loxterkamp or Trena Harris employed at their company.
I have since been in contact with others who were scammed by this individual(s). Please be weary of these names and the company they are using.
This place is a total scam. I dealt with a man name David Smith and a women named Lori. I'm not gonna go into great detail, but bascally the same happened to me, that the guy up top is talking about. I did a interview online via google hangouts, they told me I was hired and would need some new equipment for the job. immediately they sent me a check for 1750.00. That's when the red flags started to pop in my head. No job is going to send you that much money, that fast. So I did some research and found a couple of people posting about this company being a scam. I went back and confronted the person interviewing me. These people have no shame, they just denied the allegations and then tried to get me to cash the check again!! Stay away from any job that hires you with out physical contact!!! Even if you get hired for a online position, the company with eventually try to meet with you face to face. I had a feeling it was a scam when they had no contact number, only email..
