I set an appointment at this office 4 weeks ago for 6/4/15. At that time I had Cigna Medical Insurance. I asked the office what the cost of an initial visit would be and that I had not met my insurance deductible limit as of yet. I was told that the initial visit would cost $171 total. As of 6/1/15, my company changed insurance from Cigna to Blue Cross/Blue Shield. I came for the appt. on 6/4/15 and informed the office of my insurance change. They then informed me that the initial visit would now be $450 cash and Dr. Jay Gold refused to discuss the issue with me. I asked the office receptionist if $450 was the value of my well-being and she said yes. Dr. Gold would not accept any lower payment than $450 for th initial visit, regardless of the insurance change and refused to discuss it with me. I think that his behavior is outrageous and is not in conformance with the Hippocratic oath. Dr. Jay Gold knew that he would not be reimbursed by Cigna insurance or myself more than $171 for an initial visit, but when my insurance arbitrarily changed to Blue Cross/Blue Shield, the initial office visit cost increased by 265% and did not want to discuss other possible payment options.
