Like the previous report I, too, was treated to a very unpleasant experience with Fleetwood Auction Center and its unprincipled owner, Rich Gavin. He and his company were entrusted with my uncle's Asian furniture and accessories to be sold at auction back in 2012. There were literally thousands of pieces consigned which prompted the owner to claim that the goods needed to be sold over the course of a few auctions. The explanation seemed plausible and agreed to. The first auction came and went with most of the merchandise having been sold. The settlement for those items were paid approximately 2 weeks after the auction's close.
The next auction was scheduled about a month later. However, after the second auction I had not heard from the owner, Rich Gavin, in spite of my numerous emails and voicemails. I have the sent emails and phone logs to prove that I tried to reach out to him. Needless to say I did not receive a settlement for my uncle's merchandise. Next, I found out coincidentally about another auction with my uncle's goods. I was not informed of the pending auction by the owner and discovered it on his website's auction calendar. After the close of the third and final auction I failed to receive any settlement for the goods sold. At this point I was left without the option to even collect what was the remaining merchandise. The auction center was not manned during the hours posted and I had wasted a couple of trips from LA to Riverside to catch the owner in person since he was avoiding any of my attempts to contact him.
It has been approximately 3 years since this whole fiasco started and I've given up on ever hearing from this crooked business owner. My only goal is to help any other potential victim from getting robbed, mistreated, and deceived by Rich Gavin who has no morals and should not be in business. Please protect yourselves and check the complaints filed on the Better Business Bureau's website and the negative comments on Yelp!
