About 5 years ago I had a debt with Kaiser Permanente here in California. Originally this was a debt that i was not aware of because my ex wife was having all the Kaiser mail sent to her and she neglected to tell me that I had a collection due on a medical bill that went unpaid for our daughter. When I was made aware of it, I immediately called Kaiser and paid them directly. I explained this to the collection agency. While on the phone with Kaiser I negotiated the balance down by $336.00 because the collection amount due was much more. I then paid the amount that was agreed upon by phone and at the end of the conversation was told that I was paid in full and that I would no longer be in collections. About a year later, I got a letter saying that I owed $336.00 from this collection agency. I immediately called this company and fought the collections amount. The woman I spoke with agreed that their was a negotiated amount and that she'd stop all collection activities on this account. Four years later.....today, I received an alert from Equifax that I have a collections on my record for $336.00. When I've attempted to call this collection agency this morning to get this problem resolved once again, their phone is busy....I've attempted 3 different phone numbers listed on the Internet and none get a ring tone. They're all busy. Probably because thousands of people like me are calling in to complain about their shady collection practices. This company is a total fraud.
