My now 91 year old mother thought that she was paying her electric bill only, but from 2/2008 til 9/2014, there has been an unauthorized charge from HomeServe sneaked into the First Energy bill. We never sign up for this kind of so called warranty. Ever. First Energy won't even acknowledge an investigation about this unauthorized charge in my mom's name when the First Energy bill is in my dad's name. It's obvious that some kind of scam/warranty agency connected to customers through First Energy, HomeServe, targeted my elderly mom to scam her for this unauthorized charge on our electric bill. It's difficult enough to decipher these nickel/dime charges now listed on utility bills. It's easy for a company to dupe anyone into paying an unauthorized charge on a utility bill. I noticed the HomeServe charge in 2012, called HomeServe, & was refused any kind of resolution. My mom was hospitalized; we were focused on her health @ that time, so I just forgot about following up on the First Energy/HomeServe scam. We received an autosend about a change in terms from HomeServe recently (9/2014), which alerted me that the unauthorized charge had continued. First Energy keeps insisting that my mom signed up in 2/2008; I can state that we NEVER sign up for an optional charge like HomeServe. First Energy refuses to investigate or acknowledge this perpetrated rip off. This is a betrayal of public trust by a utility company.
