I started working for Express Valet after responding to a CL ad. I came into the Troy office and was hired on the spot. I was told I would be paid 6-8 dollars an hour depending on location. I was trained by the owner Terry, who smelled like weed and alcohol.
I worked my first week at a dead spot where I managed to work the whole weekend and made a whoping total of 12 dollars in tips for the WHOLE WEEKEND. I drove home angry and confused why I was doing this job at all. With gas costs and dinner, Im barley breaking even. I told Brenda(the manager) that I would like to work at another location in order to make REAL money and not 6$ an hour. She promised to put me at a location where I can make REAL MONEY. The next week I was then again scheduled to work at the same dead location. I worked another weekend at the dead location and made 15 dollars in tips the whole weekend. I once again asked Brenda to move me to a live location where I can make more than peanuts an hour. She knew I was on to her trick and that the company was ripping me off. She had no other choice and after talking with her on the phone and hearing her try to put me back on the dead spot again, she finally decided to move me.
I got my schedule and this time I was scheduled to work at an Arabic restaurant about 35 miles away from my home but not without an exception. I was told I would only be paid $5.50 an hour because the tips were very good at this new location. Excited and anxious I showed up to the restaurant 30 minutes early before my shift. I spoke with the owner of the restaurant and I was told about the ill legitimate ways of FIRST CLASS VALET. Such as the owner's(Terry) drug addiction and the company ripping off employees. I was at the restaurant for 4 hours and mangaed to park 1 CAR! I drove back home 35 miles away with 5 dollars and a head ache.
I went to take my last paycheck(which was short money) and told Brenda that I was out and did not want to work for her company anymore. The next day I received a call from the owner Terry. Terry asked me why I was not at the dead location. I explained to him that I quit. About 20 minutes later, I received a call from Brenda. She begged me to come back and that I would be treated better this time around. After me refusing about 3 times, she began to get furious and angry. She began to belittle me and accuse me of being unreliable and swore plenty of times.
